Crowley: The upcoming Tom Hardy-led Aleister Crowley biopic, Crowley, has added a cavalcade of supporting actors to its cast in the form of Ben Whishaw (Made in Abyss, And Then There Were None), Sam Hazeldine (The Hitman's Bodyguard, Grimsby), Karl Glusman (Batman: Gotham Knight, Nocturnal Animals), Hannah Gross ("Mindhunter", Marjorie Prime) and Tom Burke (Only God Forgives, "The Musketeers"). Nicolas Winding Refn directs from a script by Lon Charles.
Eleanor & Park: Another film has rounded out its large ensemble cast, this time it's Richard Linklater's latest film. The H.G. Hansen penned YA adaptation has added several younger actors to its cast. Nat Wolff (Death Note, Home Again), Sawyer Bell (The Last Posession, Inhumane), Mckenna Grace (Scion, I, Tonya), Nicolas Bechtel ("Stuck in the Middle", "General Hospital") and Cooper J. Friedman (Battle of the Sexes, "Shameless") have finished out the cast as the filming heads toward the home stretch.
Maple Leaf: Donald Sutherland ("Trust", The Hunger Games), Tatiana Maslany (Velvet, Stronger) and Ellen Page (The Death of the Honest Man, Flatliners) have been hired to complete the cast of Harry Wright's upcoming caper, Maple Leaf. Sutherland will play the head of the "Maple Syrup Syndicate", Maslany will play his assistant, while Page will play a Canadian police officer. Jason Reitman directs based on an original screenplay by Harry Wright.
The Creature: The Beginning: Having been moved up on the release schedule following the delay of Sweet Tooth, the prequel to The Creature, is getting ready to shoot just a tad earlier than originally planned. Amanda Seyfried (Siren, The Creature) and Ian McShane (The Carpet Makers, Purgatorio) will reprise their roles from the previous film. This time around they will be joined by new series leading man Taylor Kitsch (Revolution, Scion). Kitsch will play McShane's son, whose father sends him on a job to scope out some mysterious islands off the coast of Scotland. Robert Eggers (The Creature, Siren) also returns to direct from a script by Ben Collins (Damned Ship, Dead Space).
Booster Gold II: The Booster Gold Story: We've already gone over the returning faces, now let's get into the new faces joining the DC series. Jesse Plemons (Bonnie and Clyde, Blackwater), Mahershala Ali (Mona Lisa, Paradise Lost), Lea Seydoux (Saint Laurent, Spectre) and Bob Odenkirk ("Better Call Saul", The Post) have all signed on to appear in the highly anticipated sequel. Plemons will play the villain, a version of the DC villain Clayface. Ali will play DC superhero Martian Manhunter. Seydoux will play Maxwell Lord's new assistant. Odenkirk will play DC villain the Prankster. Phil Lord and Chris Miller are directing from Chad Taylor's script.
Blood on the Moon: Following the success of White Jazz in Season 1, it was only a matter of time before the studio dipped its toes in the James Ellroy adaptation waters. Vince Vaughn (Brawl on Cell Block 99, Skin Tight) will star in the project as the writer's famed detective, Lloyd Hopkins, who investigates a serial killer in 1980s Los Angeles. He will be joined by Rose Byrne (Pressing Luck, Neighbors) and Don Johnson (Brawl on Cell Block 99, Cold in July). Byrne will play a bookstore owner who aids in Hopkins' investigation, while Johnson will play Hopkins' friend and former partner. John Hillcoat (Blackwater, Triple 9) has been tapped to direct the film. Dwight Gallo (The Lady in the Lake, Heavy Rain) penned the adaptation.
