The Creature: The Beginning: Luke Evans (Cat People, Peter and the Starcatchers), Sam Claflin (Adrift, Me Before You) and Alexandra Daddario (Damned Ship, Baywatch) have joined the upcoming prequel, The Creature: The Beginning. Evans and Claflin will play crew members on the ship captained by Taylor Kitsch's lead character. Daddario, meanwhile, will play a mermaid. Robert Eggers and Ben Collins have returned to direct and write respectively.
Blood on the Moon: John Hillcoat's upcoming James Elloy adaptation has added the likes of Johnny Knoxville (Action Point, Skiptrace), Carla Gugino (Gerald's Game, Green River), Melanie Lynskey (The Intervention, Hello I Must Be Going), Rodrigo Santoro (Uncharted, "Westworld") and Ethan Embry (Cheap Thrills, Convergence) to its cast. Dwight Gallo penned the adaptation.
Nobody: Director Marc Webb (Gifted, The Amazing Spider-Man) and writer Jack Ryder (Riot Love, Numero Uno) have teamed up for the upcoming coming-of-age story, Nobody. Tom Holland (Avengers: Infinity War, Sherwood) will take on the lead role of a very average high schooler trying to balance school, friends and girls. Angourie Rice (Death Dream, Hellraiser) will play a classmate he has a crush on, while Joey King (Revolution, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory) will play his sister.
Halo: Reach: Another film set in the Halo Universe is set for release, this time a prequel to the first film depicting a team of SPARTAN soldiers taking on Covenant forces. Daniel Craig (Solution, Logan Lucky), Jason Statham (The Meg, The Fate of the Furious) and Sam Worthington (The Titan, The Shack) are set to lead the action this time around as members of the unit. Colin Trevorrow (The Book of Henry, Detective James) will direct the action based on a script from Dominic Wilkins (The Death of the Honest Man, Halo: ODST).
Stan: Writer Meirda Tako (Merdeka, Real is Better) is back with another peculiar story, this time a feature film based on the 2000 song "Stan" by rapper Eminem, who appeared as himself in Real is Better. Eminem will also portray himself in this story about a mentally unbalanced superfan of the rapper. Ben Hardy (X-Men: Apocalypse, Only the Brave) will play the fan, Riley Keough (Logan Lucky, It Comes at Night) will play his girlfriend, and Aiden Arthur ("Pitch", "Pals") will play his younger brother. Sam Mendes (Revolution, Spectre) is will direct the film.
Maximum Ride: H.G. Hansen (Dark Places, Looking for Alaska) will once attempt to successfully adapt a book that has previously failed on film. This time he will tackle James Patterson's YA sci-fi series Maximum Ride. The film will tell the story of a group of teenagers, genetically modified to be part-bird, who escape the institute where they were created. After a long casting process, Olivia Cooke (Trip, Ready Player One) has been chosen to headline the hopeful series as Max, the defacto leader of the group. She will be joined by Kevin Costner (Uncharted, "Yellowstone") and Salma Hayek (Beatriz at Dinner, The Hitman's Bodyguard). Costner will play the scientist who has raised the so-called "flock", while Hayek will play a doctor the group meets. Joss Whedon (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Much Ado About Nothing) will direct the project, his first for the studio.
