Reaction: It didn't set the box office on fire, but it broke even at least. After how many films failed to make a profit last season, this has to be viewed as a success. It grossed nearly three times the amount of money overseas that it did stateside, which was a bit of a surprise - even though horror films usually travel well enough.
"Just when I was about to check out, this one started to get intriguing. I wasn't all that interested in models missing on a ship somewhere, but once we got to the boat and the mythology took over, I was sold. It's a pretty weird, spooky movie disguised as a standard haunted boat picture." - Glenn Howard, Total Film
"Unfortunately this script by GRA nominee Ben Collins is a lot closer to his work on Dead Space than it is to his work on The Creature or Siren. The characters aren't particularly interesting and seem to mostly serve as something for the skeleton-ghost-things to torment." - Josh Manning, NY Daily News
"The casting is what kept me interested during the boring first act. Hedlund is always reliable, and Jeremy Davies gives another in a long line of great, weird performances, while Daddario and the models were all a little bland, but certainly pleasant to look at. It starts slow, but I assure you it gets good if you can make it over that initial hurdle." - Clark Davis, JoBlo.com
