Reaction: We'll take it. Comedy has been a pretty hit-or-miss genre for us (mostly miss when not combined with the action or superhero genres), so any kind of profit is a win. The film is also the long-awaited return of box office success for director Jason Reitman, who has not had a successful film at the box office since Up in the Air in 2009.

"For the first time in several years, director Jason Reitman manages to utilize his best instincts while holding back his worse ones. It probably helps that the script provided by Harry Wright is smart, funny and clever." - Michael Wilmington, Rolling Stone

"Once again Billy Bob Thornton shows the off-kilter charisma that made him an unlikely movie star. When joined by his two great character actor buddies, played by William Fichtner and Steve Buscemi, they are able to rival the Numero Uno trio as the best 1-2-3 punch in recent LRF history." - Henry Stewart, Chicago Sun-Times

"The story is one that had a lot of potential, but I think writer Wright and director Reitman (try saying that three times fast...) make the film too cute at times. Mark this one down as a missed opportunity." - Charles Yost, Oregonian
