In Development

Walker: Ewan McGregor (The Secret History, Doctor Sleep), Sarah Rafferty ("Suits", Falling for Grace), Sarah Gadon (Blind Faith, Halo 5) and James Spader (Halo 5, Don't Hang Up) have all signed on to the join the crime drama, Walker, from director David Cronenberg and writer James Morgan. McGregor will play a police sergeant, Rafferty will play the main character's therapist, Gadon will play the main character's wife, while Spader will play a wealthy philanthropist.

Superman: The Man of Tomorrow: Frances McDormand (Haute Couture, Eileen), Noel Fisher ("Shameless", "Castle Rock"), Hugh Laurie (The Crucible, Radisson) and Bradley Whitford ("Perfect Harmony", Godzilla: King of the Monsters) have joined the cast of the highly anticipated Superman film, Superman: The Man of Tomorrow. McDormand will play Superman's adoptive mother Martha Kent. Fisher will play Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen. Laurie will play LexCorp scientist Dr. Emil Hamilton. Whitford will play the editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet newspaper, Perry White. Jeff Nichols is directing the film from a script by John Malone.

Julie: Fresh off the success of The Temptations, Michael Stuhlbarg (Someone Else, The Temptations) has signed on for another supporting role, this time in the new fantasy-horror film from writer Ben Collins. Stuhlbarg will play a mysterious American who owns a farm in Italy. Kevin Zegers (Aftermath, "Dirty John") and Sophie Cookson ("Gypsy", Kingsman: The Golden Circle) have also signed on to the film. Zegers will play the best friend of the main character (played by Miles Teller), while Cookson will play a prostitute in the film. Rodrigo Cortes is directing the film.

The Letter J: It wouldn't be a season without a teen drama from writer Alex Conn (Scream 5, The Virgin Suicides). Lucas Hedges (Blind Faith, Theater Kids), Elle Fanning (The Reign of Lady Morgana, Letter to Myself) and Haley Lu Richardson (Buried Child, The Hazel Wood) have all signed on to star in the film which will tell the story of a high school boy learning to deal with the loss of a relationship. Hedges will play the lead role, while Fanning and Richardson will both be love interests of his at different times. Kogonada (Cascade, Columbus) has signed on to direct the film.

Born in Brooklyn: Ben Affleck (Revolution, Atlas Shrugged) has been away from LRF since his Best Supporting Actor GRA-winning performance in Revolution. Now he's back with another period drama, but this time he will be behind the camera as director as well as co-star. Christina Hendricks (Decrescendo, The Question: The End) and Wyatt Oleff (Peter and the Starcatchers, It - Chapter 2) have also signed on to the project which will show how one family reacts to the drama in their Brooklyn neighborhood. Affleck and Hendricks will play parents to their teenage son played by Oleff. Dwight Gallo (Hex, Ypsilanti) penned the original screenplay.

Y: The Last Man:
In other comic book adaptation news, Matt Parker (The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger) has penned an adaptation of the comic series, Y: The Last Man. Jack Reynor (Torso, Days Without End) has been cast in the title role of Yorick, who finds himself as the last man on Earth following a sudden plague. Tessa Thompson (Aliens vs. Predator: The First Hunt), Constance Wu ("Fresh Off the Boat", Hustlers) and Julianne Moore (7 Days, Tenth Circle) have also signed on to the project. Moore will play his mother, a politician who finds herself as the highest ranking survivor in the US government. Thompson will play a government agent tasked with protecting Yorick, while Wu will play a scientist who may hold the key to figuring out what caused the plague. Ana Lily Amirpour (The Bad Batch, Crimson Fox) has signed on to direct the film, which is the first in a planned series of films.
