Plot: A local news Is showing a clip about ISIS, their recently know to bombed a police station in Bandung. There are also several other cases that was shown. Rian (Iqbaal Ramadhan) a young muslim is watching the tv, he is kind of freaked and afraid that the ISIS would blow him up but his father(Ray Sahetapy) assured him that everything is going to be okay. He is kind of relieve.
Later that day. He is at the mosque after praying, the Imam start talking about the heroic story when The Prophet take over Mecca back from the Heretic, and about after the death of the prophet the muslim starts the conquest to enlarge their influence. Rian was awed by the story and how peity it is.
A couple of day later at school, Rian was bullied by one of his classmate that was coincidently a Christian, he quickly came with conclusion that Christian should not have any right to step their foot in the country.
Shaiv (Angga Aldi Yunanda), Rian’s classmate was watching when Rian got bullied and after the bullying finished and after Rian relaxed himself again, he approached him, and talk about why the muslim conquest should happened, the muslim should just kill every non-believer of Allah.
Rian was intrigued by the idea and that night he talked about his thought about killing of the heretic for the better muslim world and community. His father shut his idea down by preaching him that the muslim conquest was about religious freedom and that the muslim was treated poorly so it was more about rebellion more that heretic or not.
Rian was disappointed by his father’s reaction he thought as a person that have a degree in Islam, he would support his idea, he knows that he will not do anything that he’s saying, but he is so disappointed.
The next day, in the mosque, the imam is telling as story about how the Prophet always feeding a blind jewish in a market without the jewish know that it was him, because the jewish always talk bad about the prophet. Listening about the story, Rian grew more distaste for the other believer and believe that people like the blind jewish should better off dead after insulting the Prophet.
Later that night, for some reason, Shaiv came to his house and asked him out to a “place that will understand you” intrigued, Rian went with him, his father that listened to a bit of his conversation wondering where is his son going and pray that his son not doing something bad.
Shaiv brought Rian to a dark side of the city inside a building where an imam named Ahmad (Tio Pakusadewo) is preaching, they sit and listen to the preacher, the imam told them that the heretic is the main problem that destroy their country, the heretic politician, minister is destroying the country with their poor management and they will always have an intention to screw the muslim as the dominant religion in the country.
He told his listener that they better off dead, Rian is smilling and Shaiv noticed that, Rian thanked Shaiv for taking him to the place. For the next few months Rian getting more and more involve in the “small community”
His father noticing the strange behaviour from his son especially when it has to do with someone with a different religion, that day he try to talk to about it to his son but his son despise what he said, a little argument broke out, his father throws some verses from the Qur’a and hadith about having peace with other religion believer and being friendly with them but it was nothing for Rian, the different Islam that he learned from his small community seems have a stronger root in him than his father’s path.
Getting more annoyed by his father, he decided to walk out, leaving his father alone. His father drop a single tear while watching his son left him. In all honesty he doesn’t have anything that made him sided to the believer of other religion, if the Prophet did not say anything about it, he wouldn’t mind, now, he felt failed raising a good muslim.
Rian left to the usual community, today, the community have a little bit of event. Shaiv came to him, he told him that Ahmad has something to say to him, when he met Ahmad, he told Rian that he is chosen for a very holy task, Rian is listening, Ahmad said that he wants him to do suicide bombing.
Rian was shocked and freeze right away, cold sweat starts falling from his skin, but his mind when back to the time Ahmad preach about how being dead fighting the heretic is a very holy way to die, they will go straight in heaven when dead in Jihad. After remembering that, he reluctantly accept the task, Ahmad smile and congratulate him for being able to make it to heaven.
A couple of day later, Rian is sitting, he is nervous, he’s schedule to blow a police station that is corrupted by corrupt police that will likely to help the heretic. His father pass by and notice his son attitude and approach him asking him what happened, Rian is completely shut, he asked him again and now Rian stand, and look at his father. His father is confuse about what happened, Rian just hug him and walk by, his father watching his son’s back in confusion without knowing that it was going to be his last day to see his son.
Not far after walk away, he met Shaiv that is ready with his car, he get in and start attaching some c4 on his leg and his body and cover it with a coat, after that, Shaiv ride to one of the main station in Jakarta, after Rian get off the car, Shaiv quickly ride away and Rian enter the office.
When he is inside, he can see different people inside, some men, women, and children are inside the building, he starts to sweating but try to breath. And in one bravery, he shouted “Allahu Akbar”
Not far from the building Shaiv is standing while watching the building that slowly show smoke and then walk away.
