The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 20 Round 10)

20 seasons and 600 films later, Last Resort Films is still running strong with no signs of letting up. Here's The Roundup....

3. Sinatra
Lon Charles clearly had his work cut out for him with this one. While not a perfect film - and probably not one Sinatra's family will love - this is probably about as good as it gets in trying to tell the man's story in a single film. Some of the names of the cast gave me pause going in, but everyone really felt like their characters by the end.

2. Justice League Unlimited
The scale and scope of this film was pretty impressive. I didn't love the villain, but clearly he was more of a plot device than anything else to put characters in certain times and places. By now the cast all understand their roles really well, with special kudos for Dan Stevens coming into this established ensemble and completely stealing the whole thing.

1. Leonardo DiCaprio
DiCaprio clearly made a case for himself to go 4-for-4 in the Best Actor category with his committed performance in Frank Sinatra in Sinatra.

3. N/A

2. Award Races
While categories like Best Picture and Best Actor are still strong, this definitely feels like a weaker year in the supporting acting categories and Best Actress (even though I feel like there were more female leads this season than in most).

1. Death of the Artist
I didn't hate Death of the Artist, but it definitely didn't feel fully developed as a story. The dystopian world was lacking in clarity for its rules. Casey Affleck was good in the lead role, but the vagueness of the story really let him down.
