The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 21 Round 1)

It's pretty crazy to think that Last Resort Films is now in its 21st season. Here's The Roundup....

3. Soundtracks
If two soundtracks in the first round are any indication, there should be no shortage of soundtracks to choose for the GRA at the end of season.

2. Resident Evil 4
The most profitable of the four films has to earn it a place on the Top 3 for that reason alone. It wasn't my favorite film in the series so far, but also not my least favorite. I'm at least still intrigued to see where the series goes to next (I haven't played the games).

1. Wolf
While the film felt a little too close to other Refn/Horne collaborations at times, the tone and the spooky/sexy vibe worked really well. The two leads, Cooper and Taylor-Joy, also both felt perfect for their roles.

3. Box Office
No big blockbuster hits in the opening round, which is surely a disappointment for the studio's accountants. In fact, looking at the schedule there doesn't appear to be any obvious big budget blockbusters until near the midway point of the season.

2. Resident Evil 4
I couldn't make heads or tails of what was going on most of the time in this one. It had a cool creepy tone, but the plot was silly (what I understood) and overly complicated.

1. Rookie's Road
The combination of genres and tones did not work for me. One moment would be serious, then the next would be over-the-top comedy. In conjunction with that the mix of comedic and dramatic talents in the cast felt off as well.
