Reaction: The Novel Adaptation Curse seemingly strikes again with this being writer Abbie Q's second novel adaptation in as many seasons to lose a substantial amount of money at the box office. And to make it sting a little extra for the studio, this is the 11th film to lose money this season so far out of 20 films.

“As I was watching this movie, I just kept thinking to myself, This is where it gets better, this is where it picks up and then it just kept losing me. It is more than likely how the book is written but I believe that the creatives involved could have avoided adapting this book.” - Francis McLaughlin, The Guardian

"I can't tell if Bunny is a simple story told in a confusing manner, or a confusing story told in too simple of a style. There are some decent scenes in the film (especially the opening) and a good lead performance from Kaitlyn Dever, but the hodge-podge of ideas and styles in the film never mesh well enough to make it all work." - Bobbie Gray-Smith, Sacramento Bee

"Kaitlyn Dever was very charismatic in the lead role and there were definitely some fun ideas in the film, but the story itself never really worked for me. Between the cutesy nicknames and strange/quirky mannerisms of some of the characters, it felt like the film was trying way too hard to seem hip." - George Overmyer, Baltimore Magazine

Rated R for bloody violence, language and some sexual content
