Reaction: Fantasy films that are not based on super well-known IP have struggled in recent years, with Troll Mountain being no exception (even if it is based on a book). It probably didn't help matters that George Miller went over budget on the production.
"Troll Mountain doesn't add much to the pantheon of fantasy films. The characters are mostly forgettable and the story is pretty bland and generic at times. The strengths of the film are some of the visuals and the casting, but I just couldn't get into the story itself." - Brenton Smalls, Playboy
"Miller's visional mind after THREE THOUSAND YEARS OF LONGING leaks into this film. Sammy-Jo Ellis writes out a world I would like to return to in (hopefully) the near future. Every bit of the cast came to a great performance and helped fill out any of the characters the script sometimes failed to fill out. I hope the adaptation film curse avoids this film with a passion." - Ashton Frazer, Independent (UK)
"Troll Mountain was a fun enough fantasy adventure film for the most part. At times the story and its characters felt a bit generic and simplistic. The talented cast does everything it can to elevate the material, and most of them succeed." - George Ryan, Philadelphia Inquirer
Rated PG-13 for adventure violence
