Plot: The film starts with a series of friends who are in their car and are going to a place to camp. Arrived in the place we see Simon (Tye Sheridan) parking the car in the square and the two girls, Jess (Lili Reinhart) and Vivian (Peyton List) get off and walk a bit with their phones in hand they are a little sorry in see that the phones do not take. We also see Jose '(Jorge Lendeborg Jr.) Who approaches the girls and jokes with them. Last down are Billy (Justin Prentice) and Grace (Grace Van Patten) who were flirting in the car. After walking a few minutes Simon sees various cars hidden in the middle of the vegetation but the group doesn't pay much attention to it even if they find it a bit strange. Jose approaches and sees that some are broken, others are old and shabby while others look newer. After resuming the journey, the group arrives at a pond where the boys stop to rest and have a snack. Simon holding his girlfriend's hand Jess reveals to his friends when he was little he had taken a trip with his parents to these places and after leaving to follow a fawn he was lost and after several hours of walking he was found by chance by gods passers-by. Unfortunately, however, his parents seemed to have disappeared into thin air and were never found again and he remained alone and entrusted to his maternal grandparents. At that moment he takes out an old photo that shows him with his parents at the departure on that day. Jess hugs him while Vivian strokes his head. Then Simon remembers that even that day they had passed that little lake and a little further on there was a clearing suitable for settling down and planting the tents. When they are coming, Vivian gives a shriek of joy, holding the phone and saying that a wi-fi network has appeared. Billy and Jose approach, they say it's weird, which is almost impossible. Simon says it doesn't matter, to leave the phones aside and spend hours away from the world but despite protests they armed themselves with their electronic devices and were able to locate that unusual network and connect. Jose opened his backpack, pulled out his laptop and checked to see if that device could connect to the network. The test ended in an affirmative way. Instead of patrolling the areas annexed to our post, which would soon be set up in such a way as to ensure shelter for that cold night and for the following days, the group allowed itself a brief pause totally immersing itself in the technology from which they had tried to escape going into that forest. It wasn't all that big, barely exceeding 21,000 square meters from what the Internet said. Simon snorted as he watched the other members of the group laughed and joked before their gadgets. Time passed but in the end everyone wondered where that free line was coming from. Jess suggested that there must be another camp or a hostel or something. At that moment we see Grace walking while she is watching a video in the phone she slips and falls to the ground. There was a general laugh. When Billy approached he saw that he had fallen into the hands of some animal droppings and laughed even more. The girl, very angry with her boyfriend, tried to clean herself somehow and then tried to convince everyone to look for that hypothetical hostel to clean herself better. The group decided to move, commanded by lust despite Simon had tried to oppose it. The boys were in fact happy to know that they could stay, at least at night, in a building that allowed for a safer and more comfortable shelter than some tent placed on the damp ground. The group left except for Jose, who offered to stay in their camp to check on their belongings and went back to watching his computer screen. Billy tried to convince the group to split up but they all ended up together when Jess laughs, reminding everyone of what happens in horror movies when the groups split up just to patrol a stupid house. They continued towards the North-West, in the vain hope of being able to immediately intercept the source that emitted that Wireless network, eager for curiosity. They continued to walk for about a couple of hours, without however finding any structure, apart from the innumerable trunks of the secular trees, covered with lichens. The only thing that this walk gave us was a terrible feeling of tiredness, so much so that Vivian and Grace proposed several times to stop to catch their breath. However, they did not feel safe in stopping in the middle of nowhere, on the other hand we could find other people from one moment to the other and nobody, until proven otherwise, could have guaranteed us that they were not malicious. In the end the group was lost, in fact it seemed that they continued to run in circles. They could no longer find the right path to return to their camp, the only positive note was that the Wi-Fi network still persisted and we managed to contact Scott with our devices. The thing that seemed strange to us was the fact of not receiving any response from him, however it did not matter because the most important thing had been done, or to warn him. Simon, however, was not particularly calm from that situation and was heartened by his girlfriend Jess. Jose was in fact his best friend since he was a child. By now it was night and all their cell phones were now unloaded and unusable. Suddenly they arrived near the pond where they had refreshed themselves in the afternoon. The boys rejoiced, their base was near. Everyone rushed to their camp, they were all exhausted from the kilometers traveled on foot in a tremendously hostile place and, in the moonlight, decidedly bleak. Everyone rushed to their backpacks to drink and eat something when Simon noticed something that scared him so much. Jose had disappeared and no tent had been set up, the sleeping bags were still rolled up in their own sacks and no fire had been stoked, to tell the truth there was not even the wood that would have been used to light the fire. Vivian brought a another wave full of bad news: most of the drinks and the spare food were gone. Billy began to swear at Jose saying he had run away leaving them there. Simon said it was impossible to point in the direction of the computer still on. Jose's computer was the thing he cared about most and he would never forget it there. A sense of uneasiness spread throughout the group, the girls were rather scared and the males instead were undecided about what to do. Strange strange noises began to feel in the surroundings like claws slowly scratching the barks of trees. The group looked at each other in terror, took their things and quickly ran away to their cars. We only needed about ten minutes to reach them. About ten hellish minutes: for all that short journey to be continually observed, as if there were presences ready to slip out of the darkness in order to attack us. Billy looked around confused, Grace was gone. Suddenly Vivian let out a chilling scream and persistently claimed to have seen two pairs of yellow eyes stare into the darkness. Vivian was probably the most shaken of the group and that's why Simon didn't know if he believed his words. At that moment something comes running out of the vegetation, it was Grace who says it had fallen. They put the keys in the car and they snapped the lock, we quickly jumped on the seats and closed the doors with the safety, started the engine and we pressed desperately on the accelerator. Something prevented the vehicle from leaving: they discovered with the bitter taste in their mouths that all the wheels had been wildly torn, perhaps with the sole purpose of reducing them to shreds. The group came to the conclusion that it hadn't been an animal and that there had to be something scary and that he didn't want them to go away from there. They began to argue about whether they had any weapons to defend themselves when the attack suddenly began. A violent warhead of some horrible creature shattered the window and two clawed hands took Grace by the hair trying to take her away with him in the darkness. Billy, sitting next to her, tried to hold her back, helped also by Simon and Jess. Everything was useless, with a snarl the girl was taken away in the dark and for a few seconds only her screams were heard before a frightening silence of a few seconds. At that point something jumped over the car, punching the roof of the car. Meanwhile, other shots on the right side windows shattered other windows and the survivors quickly got out of the car. They looked around, there seemed to be no one left. Then another attack suddenly started, this time towards Billy. A moment earlier he was close to Simon and a moment later he saw his neck snapping brutally to the left. To his horror, Simon watches Billy's head suddenly bend to the left, lowering himself toward his shoulder, then down to his chest. The right side of her neck was pierced by the vertebrae that, forced, spurted out letting us admire their candor. However, her agony did not end there: a clawed hand grabbed her right ankle and pulled her towards the darkest part of the wood, making it fall and hit the head ruinously towards the ground A trail of dark blood was the only trace that remained of him, while that beast carried her somewhere ready to feed on him.The three survivors were in complete panic, Vivian was about to have a hysterics and risked fainting by voluntarily surrendering to the arms of the bloody creatures and was kneeling on the ground, while Simon and Jess came closer to seek more protection. Jess, whispering, instructs her friend to approach them. The girl struggles to her feet and approaches the couple staggering with a face that is shocked and terrified until her shirt was clawed by those terrible humanoid creatures, her cries and brought into the shadows, her powerful kicks and desperate fists that darted into the no air at all. They heard the noise that the bones produce when they break, a harrowing scream echoed throughout the forest. Jess was crying and Simon was trying to comfort her. One of the creatures pounces on the girl but Simon manages to push her away making her roll on the ground while the monster quickly returns among the trees. Simon begins to scream to try to attract the monsters to himself and in the trees we see that there are many creatures in the trees, the camera shows various yellow eyes that search Simon. The boy intimately whispered to Jess to crawl under the car and run off to the street as fast as possible. At that point Simon escapes running the other side in the middle of the vegetation hoping not to be attacked by those monsters. For a moment, during the run, something grabbed his shirt but Simon fortunately managed to slip it off and run away even if a back pain makes the boy understand that he had probably been seriously scratched. He found himself in their camp, previously the group had left some of their things there. Simon looked in one of the two backpacks where he didn't find many useful things except maybe a lighter he could use to set fire to some branch and use them as burning embers. Simon quietly says it's not a great idea but it's the only one that came to his mind to defend himself. Simon set fire to a piece of wood to get a better look and he began to walk among the sleeping bags scattered badly on the ground. The only faint light was in fact that of Jose's computer. Simon's thoughts were all for Jess, he hoped she had made it to safety. At that moment there was total silence, only the sound of an owl could be heard that made Simon shiver. Simon's eyes moved back to the computer and he decided to take a look at it, maybe he could ask for help from there. It was the only electronic device that had not yet been definitively turned off, despite the fact that the battery was now empty. The wireless network persisted in its presence, so I opened the Wi-Fi network window to see if there were new ones. The wireless network was no longer anonymous, this time there was a name, or rather a sentence. The sentence said "You will reach the others" and the computer went off.
Simon got up and threw the computer away and started backing up a few steps, ending up tumbling on the ground, at first it seemed that one of those things had grabbed me, but in reality it wasn't like that at all. Thus he found Scott's battered body. He missed all his upper lip, as if he had been torn off with a bite; the back of the neck was open and Simon retired with gagging. The part where the rib cage should have been completely ripped apart, the ribs were around his body, leaving the inside of his body perfectly visible: the intestine was almost completely absent, the majority had been removed, and with disgust I also noticed his spine, inclined towards the front, probably a victim of some attack by those creatures. On the other hand, all the other organs had not been touched. When he raised his head he found himself facing the horrible humanoid creature that looked at him with a terrible grin, drooling and snarling. Simon suddenly charged the creature who, despite his agility, was completely overwhelmed and fell to the ground, banging his head on a stone. Simon with his branch began to whack her head with an indescribable force until nothing was left but mush. At that moment another creature jumped on him jumping on his back and he found himself on the ground with that monster on his back. He tried to free himself but without results, he felt the drool falling on his neck. When it all seemed to be over from the vegetation, Jess arrived with a sharp branch spearing the terrible creature and killing her. Simon got up quickly and kissed the girl but then fell to the floor and said he didn't feel very well. He says he turns his head a little and his eyes burn a little, probably for the whole situation. The girl helps Simon to stand up and supporting him they approach the two dead creatures. They looked with disgust at the beings that had attacked them and were almost shocked, they were not monsters but human beings, or at least they were in the past. They were reduced to a horrible state. Their ribs were tremendously visible, as was the long spine, the arms and legs were very thin. The face was pale, without any expression of human empathy, the teeth were red, rotten and some were even missing in their dry mouths; the eyes were sunken and yellow. The hair was almost totally absent, a few tufts of long hair spread over their heads which once were hair.
Suddenly Jess saw something popping out of her pocket, it was a router and the girl smiled nervously but at the same time she saw Simon with her eyes wide open while she was holding the photo of her parents while pointing with her index finger to the necklace that had the mother in the picture. The same necklace was also worn by that creature. Jess gasped and Simon realizes he probably killed his mother and maybe his father who had changed into those monsters who knows why. Meanwhile Jess realizes that Simon's back is seriously injured and tries to shake the boy by saying that they have to get out of there to the hospital because he can make an infection. When she looks at the boy again, she notices that Simon's pupils have turned yellow and the face almost seems to be slowly changing. The girl begins to back away repeating the name Simon several times stuttering. He was probably infected and turning into one of those creatures, she certainly didn't want to find out. The girl looks around and sees that other yellow eyes in the middle of the vegetation are looking at her and suddenly start the attack. The film ends with Simon stunned in front of his parents' bodies while behind him various creatures are feeding on Jess's remains and one of those creatures calls him touching his shoulder.
