2060: Jamie Lee Curtis ("Scream Queens", Spare Parts), Ingrid Bolso Berdal ("Westworld", Hercules) and Paul Giamatti (Libra, "Billions") will round out the cast of Marc Forster's intriguing upcoming film 2060. Berdal will play a supposed spy, Curtis will play a doctor, while Giamatti's role is being kept under wraps. Jack Slipter wrote the script.
Trip: To fill out the cast of Trip as Grateful Dead lead guitarist and vocalist Jerry Garcia, the filmmakers have cast Joaquin Phoenix (Home Again, American Outlaws). The role is smaller, but very pivotal and Phoenix is reportedly looking forward to the challenge of portraying such an important figure. Sean Baker is directing the project from a script by Chad Taylor.
Revolution: John Malone's first original screenplay is quickly attracting an A-List cast and crew. Sam Mendes (Spectre, Away We Go) has signed on to direct the film, which will follow three married couples as they navigate the changing social and sexual norms of mid-1970s suburbia. Reese Witherspoon (Nocturne, "Big Little Lies") and Owen Wilson (Father Figures, Masterminds) will play an average American married couple who move across the street a more sexually adventurous couple, played by Amy Adams (The Raven in the Night, Nocturnal Animals) and Ben Affleck (The Accountant, Justice League). There is a third starring couple yet to be cast, as well as several supporting roles.
Looking for Alaska: Director Josh Boone (Stuck in Love, The Fault in Our Stars) is returning to the world of John Green adaptations with the upcoming adaptation of his novel Looking for Alaska. Freddie Highmore (The Secret History, "The Good Doctor") and Kaya Scodelario (Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Tiger House) are set to headline the film about a teenager sent to a boarding school who falls in love with a girl named Alaska. H.G. Hansen will make his debut as writer for the studio on the project.
Spawn: Image Comics' Spawn is set to return to the big screen in this film written by Harry Wright and Mo Buck and directed by Antoine Fuqua (The Equalizer 2, The Magnificent Seven). Idris Elba (Akira, The Dark Tower) will star as government operative Al Simmons who returns as Spawn after a mission gone wrong. Kerry Washington ("Scandal", Django Unchained) will play his wife Wanda. Jackie Earle Hayley (Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, "The Tick") will play the demonic Clown aka The Violater in a role that will require heavy prostetics and/or CGI enhancements. Sean Penn (The Gunman, Gangster Squad) has also been cast as the villainous Jason Wynn who sets Simmons up to die in his quest for world domination.
Merdeka: Writer Meirad Tako (Drake, the upcoming The Two Souls) has set his next film for Last Resort Films, a film about two men who fight for Indonesian independence. Joe Taslim (Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, Star Trek Beyond) and Michiel Huisman ("Game of Thrones", The Ottoman Lieutenant) will star in the film. Taslim will also make his directorial debut on the project.
