The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 13 Round 5)

We are now officially at the halfway point of Season 13, so here's The Roundup....
3. The Dark Tower Series
This is a series with a long trip to the big screen, including one recent failed attempt. It probably didn't live up to all of the hype or anticipation, but it finally made it.

2. Russell Crowe

He continued his renaissance with a strong turn as a controversial church leader. I'd be surprised if he doesn't wind up in the awards conversation.

1. Blind Faith
Chad Taylor seems to really well at tackling potentially controversial dramatic films. Between this and Ghost Town, he's seemingly spent plenty of time on the tightrope, and he somehow always seems to find the right balance.

3. The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger
I found the film lacking in excitement despite a few strong lead performances from Bale, Schnapp and Bana. Hopefully the inevitable sequel ups the excitement.

2. Miles Teller
He played perhaps the most bland lead character of the season so far. Teller is capable of intense, impressive performances (Whiplash, Only the Brave), but this is not one of them.

1. Before and After
I like the idea of the film (although it mostly reminded me of the first act of Hawkman), but the film just didn't play around with the idea of reincarnated love enough for me.
