Crush: Rounding out the cast of the thriller Crush will be Gary Cole (Hex, Radisson), Rachel Bilson ("Hart of Dixie", The To Do List) and Marin Ireland (Harrelson, "Sneaky Pete"). The Sienna Miller-led thriller is being directed by Cate Shortland based on a script by Andrew Doster.
Mr. Earthling: Bruce Willis (XIII, Glass), Idris Elba (The Great Beyond, Spawn 2: Payback), Alan Arkin (The Raven in the Night, "The Kominsky Method") and Georgie Henley ("The Spanish Prisoner", The Sisterhood of the Night) have all joined the Christian Bale-led sci-fi epic, Mr. Earthling. Willis will play a military captain, Elba will play the commander of a space prison, Arkin will play an emperor, and Henley will play a young female prison inmate. James Cameron is lending his name as a producer on the film which is directed by Neill Blomkamp based on an original story by Meirad Tako.
Skyrim III: The late Max von Sydow had been all set to reprise his role as Esbern, which put the filmmakers in the tricky position of recasting the role for Skyrim III. After an extensive search, they have found their new Esbern in the form of Danish actor Jesper Christensen (Melancholia, Spectre). Also joining the film will be Stellan Skarsgard (B.R.I.G.A.N.D.S., "Chernobyl") and Mark Hamill (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, "Knightfall"). Skarsgard will play Savos Aren, the Arch-Mage at the College of Wintergold, while Hamill has been cast as Septimus Signus, a reclusive intellectual who helps Gundmare in his quest. Miguel Sapochnick is back to direct once again from an adaptation penned by Mo Buck.
The Wonder: Brie Larson (A Reputation, Uncharted 3) has signed on to star in an adaptation of the novel by Emma Donoghue. Larson will play a nurse who is hired to look after a girl in Ireland who had supposedly not eaten for four months. Abby Ryder Fortson (Maximum Ride, The Life Ahead) has been cast as the young girl in question. Lenny Abrahamson (Room, The Little Stranger) has signed on to direct the film based on a script by Rosie JoLove (Beartown, Ubik). The film reunites Larson and Abrahamson, who collaborated on the film Room, which was also based on a novel by Donoghue.
McCain: Clint Eastwood (The Temptations, Buried Child) was rumored to be working on a new film with a recent GRA winner, and we now know what that film and star will be. He will team with Season 15 Best Supporting Actor GRA-winner Chris Pine (Of Rocks and Sand, Lullabies for Little Criminals) on a biographical film about the late American war hero turned politician John McCain. The film will reportedly cover McCain's time spent as a POW during the Vietnam War, as well as the early years of his political career. Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Flash Gordon, Dark Matter) and Kevin Costner (Uncharted, Maximum Ride) have also signed on to the project. Winstead will play McCain's first wife, Carol. Costner will play McCain's imposing Naval admiral father. The film is based on a script by Dwight Gallo (X-Men, The Andromeda Strain).
