The studio accountants are surely pleased with this round, so here's The Roundup....
3. Oklahoma!I enjoyed this more mature take on the classic musical. It was nice to have something more stripped down, even with the number of characters. And as usual, Chad Taylor managed to come up with a strong ensemble cast to work with.
2. The BirdsI really dug APJ's take on the material here. He cut out the "meet cute" stuff that occupied the first act of Hitchcock's original film and gave us a much more cinematic and ominous opening that really set the tone for the rest of the film.
1. Box OfficeBoom! This was obviously an excellent round at the box office, with all three films making a ton of money. I don't have the time or energy to confirm this, but I have a hunch this might be the first time all three films have grossed more than $300 million at the box office (and all three films almost made over $100 million in profit).
3. Crimson FoxI've disliked this character from the start. If she's retired for good, well, good. Her powers just aren't interesting on film and not even an actress like Vikander can make it work.
2. Rocket Red
If Joel Edgerton's Rocket Red is done for good, that would be a bummer. Of the MBWA DC characters, I feel like he has been one of the most fun (along with Metamorpho).
1. Box Office
I only mention the box office in the Bottom 3 because I worry that because of the strength of the numbers this round, people may develop expectations of the season being one of the studio's highest grossing. It was also a strong round with three solid films, so I'm clearly grasping at straws for a third thing in the bottom - this round did not have very many flaws.
