Reaction: This one was very close to breaking even, but its poor performance in foreign territories kept this from happening. He's had a pretty strong career for LRF so far, but this is not the first time one of his films under-performed at the foreign box office.

"This film was going to be made or broken by the performances from its small, but talented cast. Crudup and Britton aren't given much to do as the parents, but Chalamet does a solid job as a version of the type of character he's made his career off of: the brooding and petulant young man coming of age." - Stephen Ridley, Boston Globe

"Chalamet is becoming something of a one-note actor already in his young career. Eventually he's going to have try something, or be offered something, new and different. He has clearly been typecast as the angry young man. I feel like he's already played this character before, which made Should've Been Here feel less interesting than it could have been." - Jeremy Raren, RottenTomatoes.com

"I was expecting a strong performance from Timothee Chalamet, but I found him to be a bit underwhelming. However, I did find myself impressed by Taylor Russell and her performance. Add in a decent script and a director who knows his way around this kind of material, and you get a good, but unspectacular, film."  - Tim Durand, San Francisco

Rated R for language, sexuality and drug content
