Reaction: While Maximum Ride: School's Out Forever was still profitable, this sequel was very far off from the first Maximum Ride's $300 million box office gross. The studio would still be open to a third installment as the series has a decent overall profit so far between the two films.

"Olivia Cooke leads a cast of bland, and often times annoying, bird kids. While Cooke comes out of the film unscathed by the ridiculousness, Jodie Foster feels like she's in the wrong movie with how straight her character plays things." - Stephen Ridley, Boston Globe

"For better or worse, School's Out Forever leans heavily into some of the weirder aspects of Maximum Ride. If you enjoyed first one, you'll enjoy this one, probably just as much. If you hated the first one, well, you'll hate this one even more." - Tim Greer, L.A. Weekly

"The story doesn't make a lick of sense and the cast is made of mahogany, but I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a certain charm about the film. I should have hated the film by any standard, yet I was somehow entertained throughout." - Clark Davis, JoBlo.com

Rated PG-13 for sci-fi action violence and some crude humor
