Bad Dreams Come True: Vanessa Hudgens (Time Passages, Bad Boys for Life), Maya Hawke (Mainstream, "The Good Lord Bird"), Finn Jones ("Dickinson", Leatherface) and Brittany O'Grady ("Star", Black Christmas) have sounded out the cast of the thriller Bad Dreams Come True. Hudgens will play a young detective, Hawke will play Stephen Amell's teenage daughter, while Jones and O'Grady will play a couple of LSD-popping hippies. Columbine: Willow Shields (Hated: The Ballad of GG Allin, Sisters), Bella Thorne (Suburban, The Vegan Movie) and Laurie Metcalf (Theater Kids, Lady Bird) have joined Charlie Plummer and Logan Miller in Columbine, from director Harmony Korine and writer Alex Conn. Metcalf will play the mother of Dylan Klebold, while Shields and Thorne will play students at Columbine High School.
The Punisher: Dwight Yoakam (Logan Lucky, "Goliath"), Tory Kittles (Dragged Across Concrete, Harriet), Shea Whigham (Joker, "Perry Mason") and Jennifer Carpenter (Brawl in Cell Block 99, Dragged Across Concrete) have signed on to join the latest Marvel Universe production, The Punisher. Yoakam will play a weapons dealer, Kittles will play an assassin, Whigham will play the head of the NYPD's Punisher Task Force, while Carpenter will play Whigham's new partner. S. Craig Zahler directs the film from a script by Dwight Gallo.
Worried Mind: Robert Pattinson (Germinal, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic), Lily James (The Flash, The Phantom of the Opera) and Andrew Garfield (Standing Back, American Playboy) have been cast as the leads in Worried Mind, a biopic of legendary guitarist Eric Clapton. Pattinson will play Clapton himself, James will play his longtime love interest Pattie Boyd, while Andrew Garfield will play Clapton's best friend - Beatles' lead guitarist George Harrison. Andrew Haigh (Lean on Pete, 45 Years) has been tapped to direct the film based on a script by Chad Taylor (The King of Hearts, The Sandman).
The Youngest Hart: Hot off her Best Actress GRA-nomination Reese Witherspoon (Kylie Dates New York City, Revolution) has signed on to headline a new drama from director Greta Gerwig (Theater Kids, Hippies in New York) and writer Jacob Jones (Kiss Me Katie, Whammy). Witherspoon will play a single mother with a shocking amount of contempt for her youngest daughter, played by Emily Alyn Lind ("Code Black", Doctor Sleep). Natalie Alyn Lind ("Rubber City Rockers", "Big Sky") will play the older daughter. Casey Affleck (The Crucible, Buried Child) has also signed on to the project, as the high school principal who finds himself in a relationship with Witherspoon's character.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Meg Donnelly (Zombies, "American Housewife") has already been announced as the star of this Buffy franchise reboot at the 2nd LRF Comic-Con. The young actress will be joined by Harrison Ford (The Call of the Wild, Metal Gear Solid) and Tomas Lemarquis (Dreamland, Blade Runner 2049). Ford will play Buffy's Watcher, tasked with training Buffy to become a Slayer. Lemarquis, meanwhile, will play the villain of the film - a master vampire. Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs, Birds of Prey) has been tasked to direct the film based on an adaptation by Walter McKnight (Kylie Dates New York City).
