We're now past the halfway point of Season 18, and this sixth round certainly added some wrinkles to the season so far. Here's the latest edition of The Roundup....
3. Julianne Moore
I liked seeing Moore make her directorial debut. I could be wrong, but I believe this would make her just the second performer to make their feature film directorial debut with an LRF production. She would join Tom Cruise, who directed the final(?) entry in the Splinter Cell franchise, Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
2. Caesar
This was a top of the line production from top to bottom. A-List stars, A-List director, massive budget, epic story, two of the best writers LRF has to offer, etc. There was no way it couldn't work, and it didn't disappoint.
1. Leonardo DiCaprio
Is there any actor with a better batting average in LRF that Leonardo DiCaprio? Prior to Caesar, he had starred in two movies for the studio: Blackwater and Calamity. Both movies were hits at the box office and adored by critics. DiCaprio won the Best Actor GRA for both film, and I frankly wouldn't be surprised if he ends up 3-for-3 after this season thanks to his performance in Caesar.
3. The Journey
I had trouble connecting with this one. How old are these characters supposed to be? They all look 16, but obviously some fairly adult stuff goes on during the plot. I also had an issue with the star, but more on that later.
2. Tumor
I appreciated the movie more than I enjoyed it. It's competently acted/directed/written, but I feel like I've seen it all before. It was like deja vu all over again.
1. Tom Holland
I'm pretty sure I've gone over all this before, so I'll keep it brief this time around... I don't like Tom Holland. I don't think he's a particularly believable performer (and I think he's the worst Spider-Man ever to grace the big screen). The Journey was certainly not the film to turn around my opinion, where he played an annoying boy band pop singer.
