Spider-Man: John Cho (The Great Beyond, Cascade), Ansel Elgort (Buried Child, The Price of Fame), Kiefer Sutherland (Cold, "Designated Survivor") and Xolo Mariduena ("Cobra Kai") have all been announced as cast members in director Damien Chazelle's upcoming Spider-Man film. Cho will play the film's villain: Dr. Miles Warren, a scientist who becomes The Jackal. Elgort has signed on to play Harry Osborn, son of Matthew McConaughey's Norman Osborn. Sutherland will play NYPD Captain George Stacy, father of Elle Fanning's Gwen Stacy. Finally, Mariduena will play Peter Parker's college dorm-mate. D.R. Cobb and Chad Taylor have penned the adaptation as part of the studio's Marvel Universe.
Boys of the Bayou: Alfre Woodard (Clemency, Juanita), Rosario Dawson (Zombieland: Double Tap, Krystal) and Derek Luke (Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Aliens vs. Predator: The First Hunt) will join Denzel Washington and Samuel L. Jackson in Spike Lee's first film for LRF. Woodard will play the wife of Washington's character, with Dawson and Luke set to play their grow-up children. Jimmy Ellis and Chad Taylor penned the film, which will be the first release of Season 20.
The Lone Gunman: Not seen since Season 11's Metal Gear Solid 2, Chris Evans (Missoula, Metal Gear Solid) has been hired to star in The Lone Gunman. He will play a man setting out to avenge his brother's murder. He will be joined by Ruth Wilson (Bunker 17, The Young Pretender) and Jason Clarke (Watch Hill, Cocaine Cowboys). Wilson will play Evans' brother's widow, while Clarke will play a DEA agent (a far cry from his recent performance in Cocaine Cowboys). Doug Liman (Life on Mars, Days Without End) is set to direct the film from a script by Harmony Winters, writer of the upcoming The Past Before.
The Crow: Wings of Isaiah: John Boyega (Green Lantern Corps, American Dream) has signed on to star in the sequel to The Crow: Resurrected, from director Sam Raimi and writer Jacob Jones. He will play a young man murdered by a dangerous religious group. The villainous group will by led by Ian McKellen (And Then There Were None, Odette). Logan Lerman (Escape the Unknown, Hollow Creek), who at one point was set to appear in the previous film, has signed on for a supporting role.
The Emperor of Latium: Keanu Reeves (Silver Surfer: The Power Cosmic, Tumulus), Mel Gibson (The Punisher, The Killings), Russell Crowe (Caesar, Blind Faith) and Charlie Hunnam (One Day More, An Eye For An Eye) will lead the A-List cast of the historically-set action-adventure film, The Emperor of Latium. In addition to a major supporting role, Gibson will also direct the film from a script by Meirad Tako (Police Story: Case Closed, The Cry of the Night Lady).
Happy Birthday: Charlie Plummer (Columbine, Girl in the Fog), Kaitlyn Dever (Shouts from the Well, Watch Hill) and Bella Thorne (Columbine, Suburban) have signed on to a new comedy/drama from writer Alex Conn (Dan Star, Lovestruck). The film tells the story of a young man (Plummer) celebrating his birthday. Comedian-turned-filmmaker Bo Burnham (Eighth Grade) has been hired to direct the film.
