Reaction: Based on the last handful of movies starring Ehrenreich or Olsen, we were expecting/hoping for a bigger hit than this, but it's hard to complain about a profitable drama/western/romance film.

“I really wanted to love this one, I hadn’t seen the original so I can’t comment on comparisons, however there was something stopping me from loving it. The performances were okay, definitely not Ehrenreich or Olsen’s best but they were fine. It is a good film don’t get me wrong but I feel as though there was something missing. The pacing for me was a bit off and it took me out of the film a bit.” – Sam Nestera, The Daily Telegraph

"Ehrenreich is fine in the lead here, but the roles from Olsen and Bloom add a lot more fire to the film. For a film about finding love and a good time, writer APJ and director Taylor Sheridan's Urban Cowboy feels a little stiff, like it's trying too hard to be a more mature, more modern film than its 1980 namesake. It's not necessarily a bad notion to have, it just doesn't always work here." - Charles Triano, Los Angeles Times

"It was nice to see writer APJ stretch his non-superhero muscles again after his great remake of The Birds. He does similarly strong work with this remake. Alden Ehrenreich gives another strong performance as a country boy finding love in the big city, as does Elizabeth Olsen as a woman perhaps too head-strong for her own good. With just pieces you already had a good movie, but then the filmmakers added in a good soundtrack and fun supporting performances from the likes of Orlando Bloom, Michael Madsen and Alexandra Daddario." - Madison Bennett, Vanity Fair

Rated R for language, some violence, thematic material and sexuality/nudity
