Season 21 Golden Reel Awards

Welcome to the Season 21 Golden Reel Awards, celebrating the best Last Resort Films releases of the studio's 21st season. Tonight there are 16 films vying for the 14 prestigious awards on the line this evening. Taylor Sheridan and Dwight Gallo's Rodeo leads the pack with 9 nominations, but it is followed by an impressive ten other films coming into the ceremony with multiple nominations.

AND NOW FOR THE AWARDS....

AND THE AWARD GOES TO....

Run For Your Life came into the ceremony with 4 nomination and it managed to take home the first award of the night. It, along with Knievel and Ghost Rider, will have other chances tonight. However, the night is over for The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, missing out on its only category.

AND THE AWARD GOES TO....

Rodeo manages to win its first category of the night. The film has 8 more chances for gold this evening. This is the second Best Soundtrack award for writer Dwight Gallo after previously winning for The Punisher in Season 18. Knievel is now 0-for-2 on the night, with only one more chance for gold left in the Best Actor category.

AND THE AWARD GOES TO....

Ghost Rider win the Most Wanted Sequel trophy! It is just the second GRA trophy for writer Mark Newton, with the only previous award being Best Production Design in Season 14 for Silver Surfer: The Power Cosmic. Wonder Woman and Supergirl are done for the evening, with Most Wanted Sequel being their only nominations.

AND THE AWARD GOES TO.....

Rodeo is now 2-for-2 for the night, with 7 more chances. This category was Golden Girl's only chance, so its night is over. Surprisingly, this is the first time a Dwight Gallo-penned film has taken home the Best Ensemble Cast trophy.

AND THE AWARD GOES TO....

After three previous nominations in the Best Ensemble Cast category, Glenn Howerton finally wins an award. Rachel McAdams, meanwhile, managed to win a trophy for her first live-action appearance in an LRF production. She still has a chance to win another award with a nomination in the Best Actress category. The night is done for Howerton, and Bradley Cooper as well, with no other nominations tonight. The rest of the nominees in this category are all nominated for individual awards later tonight.

AND THE AWARD GOES TO....

And Billy Bob Thornton takes home the GRA for Best Villain. He becomes the first Marvel Universe villain to win the trophy. Madison Iseman is still without a GRA. She has three previous nominations (two Best Starring Couple and one Best Ensemble Cast). She is also nominated for Best Supporting Actress later tonight (for her role in Whaling). The night is done for Twisted Metal, with Richard Brake's loss her leaving the film 0-for-3 on the ceremony.

AND THE AWARD GOES TO....

Odysseus - Part One's win here marks the first career GRA win for writer Andrew Doster. He only has one previous nomination - Best Starring Couple for Sisters - back in Season 5. The film previously struck out in the Best Ensemble Cast category. It has one more shot in Best Supporting Actress thanks to Jessica Chastain's nomination. Wolf entered the night with 6 nomination. The loss here makes the film 0-for-3 so far.

AND THE AWARD GOES TO....

This is the first solo writing award for Jimmy Ellis. He previously won the Best Original Story category twice with projects co-written with John Malone (Elysian in Season 13 and Control in Season 14). This is the first win in the first category nominated for The Void. It can still win in 4 categories, including Best Pitcure.

AND THE AWARD GOES TO....

Jessica Chastain wins her first GRA trophy since her Best Actress win in Season 5 (for Sinkhole). This is her third GRA win (following Best Ensemble Cast for The Prisoner and Best Actress for Sinkhole). Madison Iseman goes 0-for-2 on the ceremony after previous missing out on the award for Best Villain. This was also the final nominated category for Odysseus -Part One. The film took home awards in two of its three categories.

AND THE AWARD GOES TO....

Billy Bob Thornton fails to go 2-for-2, losing to Colin Farrell in the category. Farrell also beat out two first-time nominees in the form of Keach and Mantzoukas. Farrell is a previous winner in the Best Ensemble Cast (Pulp) and Best Actor (The Death of the Honest Man) categories. Despite leading the ceremony in nominations, Rodeo has so far only managed to win two trophies. It's not too late for the film though, with four more nominations to go - including Best Picture.

AND THE AWARD GOES TO....

Kate Mara manages to win Best Actress for her first nominated LRF role. The night might be finally turning around for Rodeo, with now 3 awards in its 6 categories so far. It is nominated in every remaining category as well. Florence Pugh, meanwhile, is unable to win her second Best Actress trophy (she previously won the award in Season 14 for A Lost Sense of Heaven). The night is done for Pontiac, with the film only managing to win one award in its six nominations.

AND THE AWARD GOES TO....

Nominated for the 3rd time in 5 seasons, Tom Cruise does not bring home his 2nd Best Actor trophy. Instead, he loses to the first ever Best Actor GRA winner, Josh Brolin, who previous won all the way back in Season 1 for his performance as Jim Jones in Jonestown. The Void came into the night with 5 nominations and it has already taken home 3 trophies.

AND THE AWARD GOES TO....

In his third nomination, Jeff Nichols finally manages to win the Best Director GRA trophy. The Void is now 3-for-5 on the night, tying Rodeo for the most awarded film of this ceremony heading into the final and biggest category. The night is done for Run For Your Life, winning in only once of its three categories.

AND THE AWARD GOES TO....

And the big award of the night goes to The Void. The film ends the night with the most wins of the night with four, narrowly edging out Rodeo's three trophies. It is the first solo Best Picture win for writer Jimmy Ellis. He shares two previous Best Picture wins with co-writer John Malone (Elysian in Season 13 and Klondike in Season 19).

Congratulations to all of the winners! That's a wrap on the 21st season in the world of Last Resort Films. The 6th LRF Comic-Con will be on February 13th (Super Bowl Sunday). In the meantime, stay tuned for a special GRA-edition of The Numbers on Monday.
