Reaction: Definitely not a franchise starter like writer Jacob Jones probably wanted. One big issue may have been that the Sesame Street audience skews very young, probably too young for parents to want to bring them to a movie theater to watch a movie that clocks in at over 2 hours in length.

"Perhaps the biggest thing this film has going for it is Frank Oz behind the camera. It has potential to be a mess in any other hands but Oz wisely provides his expertise with both the characters and directing films such as this. And at least Ed Norton seemed to be having a blast." - Kate Yarbrough, The Guardian

"I'm not sure who the audience for this film is. The Sesame Street crowd is far too young for a film of this length, older kids will find to too kiddie, and adults will have no interest. Director Frank Oz and stars Jim Carrey and Edward Norton do what they can with the material, but it just isn't the right material." - Dave Manning, Ridgefield Press

"Super Grover just doesn't feel like big screen material. Sesame Street has stayed on public television as long as at has for a reason. Sesame Street skews very young, which is why it has never had the mass appeal of something like The Muppets. Seeing all the Sesame Street gang on the big screen felt more strange than exciting in this film. There were a handful of funny moments, but it felt like they were out of a film based on different source material." - Frank Estelle, Boba Breeze

Rated PG for mild crude humor and fantasy violence
