Reaction: OZ wasn't a colossal hit, but writer Jack Brown has recently submitted another pitch to the studio offices so it won't be the last we see from him. And if Jack is serious about writing a sequel, he can consider it greenlit.
"OZ is visually interesting, but it definitely does not delve into the Wizard of Oz mythology enough for liking. It also does not delve into the backstory of Dorothy's traveling partners nearly enough. The film scatters around a lot of interesting kernels, but it doesn't pay off enough of them." - Robert Avery, San Jose Mercury
"Between the story, visuals and soundtrack, rookie writer Jack Brown gives this film and entertaining 90's industrial metal twist that helps this OZ adaptation stand out a bit from the others. Meanwhile, Maya Hawke may have finally found the role that will make her a legitimate leading lady." - Gregory Fletcher, Los Angeles Times-Journal
"First-time writer, Jack Brown, truly shows off what he can do with this film. While not reinventing everything in OZ, he does a great job of making it different enough from its predecessors. The horror element adds some flavor to the film. The film flew by, I am not sure if it left me wanting more or if it was just enough. Cosmo Jarvis surprised me here, being able to outshine the other more prominent actors here. All in all one of the better debut films that I can remember." - John Watkins, The Sydney Morning Herald
Rated R for violence and sexuality/nudity
