Reaction: The performance of this film is a huge upgrade over James Cameron's previous LRF directorial effort, Assassin's Creed: The New Order, which failed to make a profit. It's also the best box office performance of any Ellis & Taylor collaborations (more on that in the Box Office Breakdown).
"Man Made Machine movie can be a bit silly at times, maybe a bit too comedic in areas to give Malcolm the aura he deserves, but Yahya Abdul-Mateen II carries the workload with a career best performance and an eclectic supporting cast to boot." - Mitchell Parker, New York Times
"I didn't always feel the chemistry between Margot Robbie and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, which hurt the film at times. Given the cast and crew, I was honestly expecting something a bit more serious, but Man Made Machine ended up being fun, light blockbuster entertainment for most of its running time. It wasn't what I was expecting, but it was still thoroughly enjoyable throughout." - James Tubbs Jr., Vice Magazine
"Man Made Machine is ambitious, but that's where it ends. The film as a whole develops as a bit of a bore. I enjoyed Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Margot Robbie, but everyone else doesn't strike me as enjoyable. James Cameron reflects the overall success of his previous LRF attempt of Assassin's Creed into this. A note that his name shouldn't be attached to something unless it's a spectacular epic worth watching on the IMAX or, at least, the silver screen." - Mac McFadden, The Sun
Rated PG-13 for violence and some sensuality
