Reaction: Huge numbers! Thankfully the film that overtook Paradise Lost as the studio's most expensive movie made was even more profitable. We spared no expense with this production and it certainly paid off. We are very glad that our move into superhero films has worked out so far.
"I was expecting cool space scenes and great special effects, but I was not expecting the more emotional components of the film. Reeves keeps the Surfer sympathetic, even when helping the villain." - Dave Cone, New York Post
"Reeves usual cold demeanor does wonders for the character of the Silver Surfer. Even before he turns silver, he is completely believable as a being from another planet. The rest of the cast gives similarly good performances, even if they don't get to develop their characters as much." - Roger Taggart, Chicago Tribune
"There's just something off about a Silver Surfer origin film that completely ignores the Fantastic Four. I understand that the studio doesn't have all the rights, and probably wants to avoid comparisons with any of the poor Fantastic Four films, but it just comes across as incredibly distracting." - Michael Van Patten, Slant Magazine
