Round 3 was a serious mixed bag. We saw one great film, with a couple films that were more mixed in terms of quality. Anyways, here's The Roundup....
3. Jack Reynor
Seriously, Jack Reynor is a force to be reckoned with. He may be the most talented young actor working for this side of Alden Ehrenreich. He was great in a supporting turn last season in Suzanne, and he continues that strong work in Days Without End in LRF and the great "Strange Angel" outside of LRF.
2. Steven Soderbergh
About time Steven Soderbergh directed another film for the studio. He handles the genre mix in Doctor Love very well, which is not surprising given his filmography.
1. Doctor Love
I really enjoyed Doctor Love. It's full of super colorful characters who all have at least one good scene to allow each actor to strut their stuff a bit.
3. Assassin's Creed: The New Order
I don't think Assassin's Creed: The New Order is a bad film. However, I did find a bit difficult to follow at times. I also didn't think most of the cast were necessarily up to the challenge of their roles.
2. Joe Keery
I think Joe Keery has a bright future ahead of him, but he has a very modern presence to him. He does not fit the historical setting of Days Without End very well.
1. James Cameron
I think Cameron may have lost his touch a bit. First, making about a dozen sequels to Avatar that nobody asked for. I'm pretty sure he's the only person super excited about more Avatar. Then you have Alita: Battle Angel, written and produced by Cameron. The story feels ripped straight from 1995, which is to say it felt very dated (despite the special effects). And now you have Assassin's Creed: The New Order, which once again makes it seem like he's lost his touch a bit. James Cameron films used to be an event, but I'm just not sure he's up to the challenge of that anymore.
