This was a particularly strong round, featuring some films I don't will be forgotten soon. Here's The Roundup....
3. Billy Magnussen
It's nice to see other writers taking a chance on a homegrown star like Billy Magnussen. He doesn't have a lot of leading roles in major films away from LRF, but his stock has been continually on the rise since his first appearance in Booster Gold. In The Mutation, he is given a role he can sink his teeth into, and sure enough, he shows he can deliver a strong performance as someone other than Booster Gold.
2. Ypsilanti
I really dug this thriller. It took an intelligent approach to the genre. It didn't pretend to entertainment with over-the-top violence or explosions. It was more psychological than that, which I enjoyed. Plus it gave us Kyle Chandler and Daniel Craig in a couple of standout roles.
1. Scion 3
What a satisfying conclusion to the adventure that began back in Season 6. I'm assuming this is the end of the Scion series, although it ends on such a hopeful note that I could be wrong. It was a great film and a great series of films.
3. Bill Murray
He just felt plain wasted in his role as what amounts to playing the town drunk. Somebody needs to write this man a role worthy of his talents.
2. W. Earl Brown
It's certainly not because he's bad. W. Earl Brown makes my Bottom 3 only because it annoys me that it took twelve seasons for some one to finally get around to casting this wonderful actor.
1. Scion 3
Once again, this entry isn't because it was bad. Scion 3 makes the list because, as I suspect this will most likely be the final film in the sage, I will miss the films. Chad Taylor and John Malone have made for a formidable writing duo. Hopefully they team up again some time.
