Resume: Tom Cruise

After spending most of his LRF career headlining tent-pole action films like the Splinter Cell series and Alan Wake, now the legendary movie star Tom Cruise has begun to include more prestigious, dramatic films to his filmography like last season's Heights and the upcoming The King of Hearts alongside fellow legend Tom Hanks. For this latest edition of Resume, we will take a look at the filmography of the legendary movie star....

Season 2
Splinter Cell
Director: Doug Liman
Writer: D.R. Cobb

Budget: $170,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $323,799,037
Foreign Box Office: $569,968,400
Total Profit: $559,810,149

Tom Cruise made his LRF debut with the first film in what has become one of the studio's most successful and long-lasting franchises. The film received solid reviews from the critics with a Metascore of 75, and was obviously a major hit at the box office.

Season 3
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
Director: Joe Carnahan
Writer: D.R. Cobb

Budget: $200,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $388,928,087
Foreign Box Office: $599,581,182
Total Profit: $577,546,211

After the massive success of the first film, a sequel was fast-tracked by the studio. While this first sequel was another box office hit, it did not receive the critical kudos of the first entry.

Season 4
Alan Wake
Director: David Slade
Writer: APJ

Budget: $106,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $268,958,004
Foreign Box Office: $324,373,812
Total Profit: $144,432,869

In his first LRF effort outside of the Splinter Cell series, Cruise next starred in an adaptation of the supernatural thriller video game Alan Wake. The film was a hit with critics and audiences alike and took home the GRA trophy for Best Adaptation.

Season 5
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Director: Jaume Collet-Serra
Writer: D.R. Cobb

Budget: $202,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $370,799,122
Foreign Box Office: $555,600,883
Total Profit: $488,795,575

Cruise returned with another hugely successful Splinter Cell film, at least from a financial standpoint. Like the previous entry in the series, critics gave the film mediocre reviews praising Cruise and the action, but not much else.

Season 8
Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Director: Yann Demange
Writer: D.R. Cobb

Budget: $218,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $499,130,228
Foreign Box Office: $662,402,374
Total Profit: $579,641,198

In Season 8, Cruise returned for yet another Splinter Cell film, although unlike the previous two entries this one was a smash hit with critics as well as audience. Double Agent became the first Splinter Cell film to eclipse the $1 billion mark at the box office. It was nominated for two Golden Reel Awards and received a "Must See" grade from Metacritic.

Season 10
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Director: Jose Padilha
Writer: D.R. Cobb

Budget: $240,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $439,782,199
Foreign Box Office: $542,668,483
Total Profit: $228,990,221

Sure enough the Splinter Cell series kept churning along with this fifth entry in Season 10. While the film received decent reviews, it was not able to match the same box office heights as Double Agent before it.

Season 13

Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Director: Tom Cruise
Writer: D.R. Cobb

Budget: $265,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $450,478,223
Foreign Box Office: $545,565,328
Total Profit: $188,445,934

Cruise once again returned as Sam Fisher in this 6th Splinter Cell film, but the more intriguing aspect this time around was Cruise stepping behind the camera as director as well. The film received solid reviews and just narrowly missed out on $1 billion at the box office.

Season 15
The Andromeda Strain
Director: Joseph Kosinski
Writer: Dwight Gallo

Budget: $130,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $178,569,437
Foreign Box Office: $160,230,438
Total Profit: $55,479,350

With the Splinter Cell saga seemingly at an end (at least for now), Cruise next found himself headlining the sci-fi thriller The Andromeda Strain. As usual, the film did well at the box office, further cementing Tom Cruise's box office prowess.

Season 16
Heights
Director: David Fincher
Writers: Alex Conn & John Malone

Budget: $67,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $93,774,098
Foreign Box Office: $66,901,222
Total Profit: $17,500,804

After a string of genre-related films, Tom Cruise finally found himself in a drama for LRF after 16 seasons. He received his first GRA nomination for Best Actor for his role as an ambitious New York real estate developer. The film was a hit with critics, and despite it's genre grossed over $150 million at the box office.

Up Next: As it was already announced at the first LRF Comic-Con, Cruise will be seen as the star of Green Lantern Corps later this season. After that, Cruise has a few projects in the works including another film with director Joseph Kosinski.
