The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 17 Round 5)

We're now at the midway point of the season, and things are looking pretty promising so far. Here's The Roundup....

3. Kylie Dates New York City
I was surprised by how funny this film was, especially given how closely it sticks with the genre conventions. The bad dates Witherspoon finds herself on were all individually funny thanks to the writing as well as the spot on casting.

2. Justice League Dark
I liked JLD. I didn't love it, but it did feel like a worthy continuation of the characters it features, and that's what is really important. Gosling's The Question gets some very strong moments that hearken back to his initial appearances in The Question trilogy.

1. The Hit Maker
This one gave Bale a role to really sink his teeth into, and that usually makes for an enjoyable experience for the viewer (it did here).

3. Lack of Soundtracks
Halfway through the season and we're only up to four soundtracks. Hopefully we'll have enough in the second half of the season to keep the category in the GRAs (and make it a stronger category for the season).

2. Kylie Dates New York City
I liked the film, but I would have liked it a tad more if it didn't seem to end so suddenly. That's admittedly a bit of nitpicking though as it was a pretty decent rom-com.

1. Justice League Dark
My main beef with the film is that Felix Faust never felt like much of an immediate threat for our villains. I could have used an extra scene or two to show us the real dangers of him and his plan.
