The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 17 Round 7)

Believe it or not, there are just three rounds left to go in Season 17. Here's The Roundup....

3. Burnt Dreams
The film didn't feature a ton of surprises, but the ones it did have worked very well. The supporting cast definitely elevated the film, making it better than it probably should have been.

2. Mark Duplass
I love seeing an actor who has paid his dues for years finally get that big, potentially career-defining role. Plus, he fits Mark Newton's take on the character to a tee.

1. The Hulk

I enjoyed The Hulk. It had an interesting take on Banner, making him less dorky, and more just super intelligent. My favorite part of the film was Don Johnson's General Ross though. He's a character that you're not supposed to like very much, but Johnson gives a very empathetic portrayal that I wasn't expecting.

3. Drama/Fantasy
This round once again proved that the drama/fantasy genre combo is a very risky bet at the box office. Looking at the films that have featured the combo, I do wonder though if the films in question were missing some star power. Could an A-List star turn the genre into one that is more profitable? Beats me.

2. One Day More
I think this film would have worked a lot better 35 years ago. Today's audiences are going to be a tough sell for sentimental films like this, even if it isn't a bad movie.

1. Box Office
Thankfully The Hulk put an end to the three film streak of box office flops. Looking ahead at the schedule, there are some films coming up that are probably going to have a rough time at the box office.
