Director: Lauren Faust

Voice Cast: Zac Efron, Ginnifer Goodwin, Emily Blunt, Lili Simmons, Zoe Saldana, Awkwafina, Tiffany Haddish, Tara Strong, Cathy Cavadini, Elizabeth (EG) Daily
Plot: The film opens on a comic book-esque shot of a large city, which the narrator (E.G. Daily) calls ‘New Haven City’. Despite its name, it is a crime ridden town where some of the most devious ne’er do wells and crooks come together to terrorize citizens. But fear not dear viewer, for there is a group created to combat them. The Seeds Protecting You System, or as they’re better known as, the SPYS.
Created by Beverley Hive, Captain B (Tiffany Haddish) as she’s called by her peers, a brief montage showcases how the SPYS started as a humble organization only to evolve into the greatest crime-fighting organization all thanks to one group. A group that stands the test of time and passes every challenge given to them. A group that’s…fashionably late.
In a house not far from the suburbs, a red-haired woman pounds her alarm clock and yawns. This is Fiona (Ginnifer Goodwin), better known by her SPY mates as Flower. Despite the name, she is anything but dainty as she grimaces over her messy hair. In another part of town, Abby (Zoe Salanda) is awakened by setting off her breakfast laser, turning a chair into an entire waffle. She smiles, relieved that she won’t have to cook anything.
The only girl that actually seems up and ready is Shu Fang (Awkwafina), finishing up a produce bar before going out for her morning jog. Along the way, she comes across Abby trying to keep control of her latest invention, the bladder banner, which proves to be a tongue twister for both. Meanwhile, Fiona is still trying to make herself look presentable to the others.
Eventually, the girls all arrive at SPYS headquarters, Abby and Shu Fang greeting Fiona as she bolts through the doors, relieved to have gotten to work on time. It’s there the three girls meet their boss Captain B who asks them how their mornings were. All three say the same thing. The usual. Only for Abby’s bladder banner to lose control and hit an unsuspecting agent, causing them to pee their pants. Wincing, Abby and Captain B both agree that the new invention needs some reworking.
The girls regroup in time for Captain B to give her latest bulletin. Pumpkin Pie (Lili Simmons), girlfriend of notorious criminal Georgie Porgie (Zac Efron) has been around town causing multiple disturbances. It’s up to the girls to track her down. Flower, Apricot and Sun Beam head off to the SPY mobile where after a brief rock, paper, scissors game, Apricot becomes the lucky driver.
The girls arrive at the middle of New Haven City where they find Pumpkin Pie crying about how she’s lost her diamond ring. Skeptical, Flower asks Pumpkin Pie where she last had her diamond ring. She overdramatically explains that she left it by the drawers and was planning to wear it, only to find it gone when she woke up. Pumpkin Pie begs the SPYS to find her diamond ring. Despite their suspicions, Flower tells her that they’ll keep an eye out for it.
Once the SPYS head out, Pumpkin Pie giggles deviously asking Georgie Porgie if her acting was good. Georgie saunters in, stylishly wearing a diamond ring, declaring it the best acting performance he’s ever heard. Now that the SPYS are stuck on a goose chase, nothing can stop Georgie Porgie from getting riches beyond their wildest dreams!
The SPYS spend much of the day questioning the other citizens about the diamond ring, only to find no answers. A frustrated Sun Beam is ready to say they’ve been tricked, only for Apricot to spot a woman walking down the street. She not only gives them the exact same story Pumpkin Pie told them, she also gives a concrete idea on who the culprit was.
Later that day, Pumpkin Pie sits by the pool, kissing her diamond ring when the SPYS bust in. Flower tells her that they know she has the diamond ring. Pumpkin Pie stands up, ready for fight only to be stunned by Apricot’s freeze and heat rays. From there, Pumpkin Pie proves to be no match for the SPYS as Sun Beam rips the diamond ring off of her finger. Flower tells Apricot to return the ring to the lady they saw earlier, Sun Beam and her will take care of Pumpkin Pie. Before they can do anything else however, they find that Pumpkin Pie has already gone. Regardless, the SPYS return the ring and celebrate another successful case.
Back at Georgie Porgie’s colorful lair, Pumpkin Pie whines about how the SPYS took their diamond ring and foiled their plan. To her surprise, Georgie is nonchalant about it, revealing that he knew the SPYS would find out. They always do. That’s why he’s been working on something extra special.
Georgie ushers Pumpkin Pie to a secret lair where a scientist hands him a container. Georgie opens it, revealing a small green mint. He explains that he’s always had a way with the ladies. Hence the rhyme “Georgie Porgie, pumpkin pie, kissed the girls and made them cry.” With this breath mint, he’ll have the power to be irresistible to everyone in town. He puts it in his mouth for testing, asking Pumpkin Pie how his breath smells. One whiff has her enamored. Satisfied, Georgie Porgie declares that this is the item he needs to put the SPYS out of commission once and for all.
The SPYS return to home base, congratulated by Captain B on a job well done. Fiona thanks her, only to apologize for not catching Pumpkin Pie. Shu Fang tells her not to worry about it, saying that what matters is that they brought some level of justice to the city. Despite this, Abby is still concerned. If Pumpkin Pie is out there, Georgie Porgie may be too.
Captain B tells Abby not to worry. He thinks he’s a smooth, suave villain but in truth, he’s just another statistic. Suddenly, Captain B receives a phone call and rushes off to take the message. This gives Abby ample time to showcase another invention, the Pizzabot 5000. With this bot, never again will the girls have to worry about late deliveries. Luckily for Abby, it manages to work and it delivers a flawless pizza…to Shu Fang’s face.
As Shu Fang chases Abby around, Fiona eats a slice of pizza and checks her phone, a smile growing instantly as learns that the latest issue of her favorite comic book, the Supernova Sisters is being released next week. Bigger news awaits however as an excited Captain B calls all the SPYS over for an important announcement. World famous fashion designer and creator of ‘Stuffed Duck’ clothing line Mrs. Stuffings (Emily Blunt) is coming to New Haven City. A welcoming ceremony is set to be held tomorrow morning.
Despite their excitement, Fiona brings up the concerning prospect of Georgie Porgie’s plan culminating with an attack on Ms. Stuffings? Aware of this, Captain B announces that the mayor has assigned the SPYS to be security guards for her during the event. She warns them not to embarrass her, not just because of the high standards SPYS has but also because she knows her on a personal level.
That evening, the SPYS rest up in their homes, knowing the day will be intense. When morning rolls around however, Fiona is surprised to find that most of the people she sees aren’t talking about Ms. Stuffings, but about Georgie Porgie. She watches as two girls (Cathy Cavadini and Tara Strong), who the narrator claims sound familiar, gush about Georgie Porgie. Fiona tries to chime in, asking about Ms. Stuffings only to be ignored. Fiona then makes a mental note to confront him if she sees him later tonight.
Despite the increase of Georgie Porgie intrigue, Ms. Stuffings’s welcoming event still receives a noticeable amount of attention from citizens and media. A very stylish looking woman exits out a comically long limo. Apricot tries her best not to fangirl, being restrained by Sun Beam. After being welcomed by the public, Ms. Stuffings sees Captain B and the two share an embrace. Captain B then introduces her to the SPYS. Upon touching Mrs. Stuffings’s hand, Apricot faints.
Throughout the day, Ms. Stuffings is protected by the SPYS. It looks as if the coast is clear as Georgie Porgie is nowhere in sight until during a walk downtown, he spots her by chance. The SPYS go into a fighting stance but Ms. Stuffings waves them off, offering to handle this. Georgie steps up to Ms. Stuffings, calling it an honor to see her and generally sucking up to her. Unimpressed, Ms. Stuffings tells ‘the toad’ to beat it.
As Ms. Stuffings and Georgie have their discussion, Fiona curiously follows them to see what happens. Georgie explains to Ms. Stuffings that New Haven City is a dangerous place full of dangerous people and that it may not be safe for a lady like her. Ms. Stuffings bluntly explains that she can handle it. Eventually, Georgie manages to strike a deal. She might be safe, but her jewelry and clothing may not be. So in exchange of him ‘protecting’ her things, he’ll help keep her safe. Perhaps surprisingly, Ms. Stuffings accepts the offer.
Once Ms. Stuffings leaves, Flower jumps into action, asking Georgie what he’s planning. Georgie puts his hands up in defense, explaining all he’s doing is helping the new lady in town. He then asks Flower how his breath smells. Flower clogs up her nose, claiming that it’s as rotten as his personality. She warns Georgie to stay out of trouble or he’ll get a one way ticket to Prisontown, USA. When Flower storms off, Georgie smirks, staring that the trouble has only begun.
A montage showcases what life is like for Georgie Porgie over the next few days as he manages to get away with crime after crime, taking money, jewelry and other precious items while also starting to form a bond with Ms. Stuffings, keeping her most cherished items ‘safe’ with him. All the while, Georgie builds a growing fandom with women, all of which fawn over everything he does. The narrator watches in disgust, calling Georgie Porgie a charlatan and a chauvinistic pig, only to be threatened by one ravenous fangirl.
One morning, Captain B enters the mansion of Ms. Stuffings, being greeted by the famed businesswomen. Captain B looks around the mansion, noticing it being devoid of many items. But she tries to ignore it, instead asking Ms. Stuffings how things are for her in New Haven City. She calls it quite good, especially since she met Georgie.
As the conversation continues, Captain B comes to realize that Ms. Stuffings is more willing to talk about Georgie and his willingness to keep her stuff safe. She admits that he may be a good person after all, using affectionate wording such as ‘Georgie Worgie’ and ‘Georgie dear’. Horrified, Captain B is forced to tell Ms. Stuffings a harsh reality. She may be being brainwashed. The lack of anything in her mansion? The affectionate wording of Georgie Porgie? It’s not her. Ms. Stuffings only smiles, understanding Captain B’s disappointment. She then calls security to seize her, only for Captain B to see herself out.
Fiona, Abby and Shun Fang sit in a coffee shop, reading the latest issue of the Supernova Sisters when they receive an urgent call to action from Captain B. The three rush to SPYS headquarters at breakneck speed, spotting a distressed Captain B. She tells the girls that multiple crimes have been recorded all over New Haven City. Worse yet, a chance meeting with Ms. Stuffings has her fearing that she may be in cahoots with him.
The SPYS spring into action, this time with Shun Fang driving. Upon arriving at Georgie’s hideout, Flower warns him that they have him surrounded. Surrender now and they’ll go easy. Georgie comes out alongside Pumpkin Pie, absolutely dripping with swag. Pumpkin Pie sees the SPYS and asks them how they like her new dress. She got it from Ms. Stuffings.
Georgie then gives a demonstration to his newfound success, pulling out a breath mint from his pocket and swallowing it. He takes a deep breath and lets out a sigh so powerful, potentially every woman not a part of the SPYS comes up to them, standing by their man. Georgie stares down Flower, making it clear that they don’t have to do this. He knows how she’s the glue that holds the SPYS together and with her by their side, he’d be unstoppable. Georgie takes her by the hand, kissing it. In a rage, Flower slams him to the ground.
Shocked, Georgie commands his army to attack. They do so, swarming the SPYS with reckless abandon. They try their best, but are completely outmatched. Sun Beam calls for backup, but even their numbers are not enough to match the might of hundreds upon hundreds of angry fangirls. Georgie congratulates them on a job well done and commands them to follow him to Ms. Stuffings’s mansion.
As the narrator fears the end of the SPYS, Flower manages to regain consciousness and sees a few lollygaggers from the mob. She follows them, hoping to get a better look at what Georgie may be planning. Flower soon arrives at Ms. Stuffings’s mansion and manages to sneak inside, posing as one of the fangirls. Inside, Georgie is putting together the final arrangements for a last deal. If Ms. Stuffings sells her entire business to Georgie Porgie, he’ll marry her in front of everyone. Flower looks at Ms. Stuffings, seeing the love drunk expression on her face as she prepares to sign the contract. Only for her to ask if Georgie can turn around for a moment. Georgie does so, eating a briefcase to the head.
With Georgie briefly knocked out, Ms. Stuffings rushes into the crowd, trying to locate Flower. Upon finding her, she motions for her to run to SPYS headquarters. Along the way, Ms. Stuffings manages to revive Apricot and Sun Beam. Inside the SPYS headquarters, Captain B congratulates Ms. Stuffings on a job well done much to the SPYS’s confusion. As it turns out, Ms. Stuffings had been pretending to be in love with Georgie Porgie, having been a part of a similar case when she was a part of the SPYS.
Ms. Stuffings opens her briefcase to reveal a batch of stinky cheese. The only weakness of Georgie’s breath mint. Unfortunately, one pint will not be enough. The SPYS must gather the biggest block of stinky cheese they can find. Thankfully, Apricot, Flower and Shu Fang know just where to find it.
Suddenly, the headquarters begins to shake violently. Captain B looks out, seeing Georgie, Pumpkin Pie and the angry mob trying to break in. Captain B orders Apricot and Sun Beam to get the cheese, they’ll fend off the others for as long as they can. Apricot uses her teleportation ray, leaving Captain B, Ms. Stuffings and Flower to go up against Georgie and his fangirls in the final battle.
The fight is long, hard and fierce. Captain B uses her powers to sting several lackeys, while Ms. Stuffings manages to find a use for some of Apricot’s gadgets, making it all the more easy for Flower to fight the others off. The numbers game again proves too much for them however and it’s clear that the secret weapon is needed.
Just as it seems all is lost, Apricot and Sunbeam arrive via helicopter, carrying a humongous block of stinky cheese, aiming right where Georgie and the others are. Flower, Captain B and Ms. Stuffings flee without giving Georgie any warning and in one fell swoop, Georgie, Pumpkin Pie and even a few fangirls are squished under the weight of the stinky cheese.
The pungent smell of the cheese proves to do the trick as each woman becomes confused on why they’re here. The answer becomes clear when a dazed Georgie peaks his head out, revealing several stolen pieces of jewelry and bags. Realizing they’ve been duped, the former fangirls begin to scream loudly, louder than any other recorded scream in human existence.
The fangirls then turn their attention to Georgie. Before they can do anything however, Georgie puts his hands up and surrenders, begging the SPYS to take him to jail. Ms. Stuffings promises, but not before he gets his just desserts. Afterward, all of Georgie’s former fangirls begin to tee off at him and Pumpkin Pie, each getting a shot in. For a moment, it appears to all be over when Georgie sees an entire group of men, glaring at him. Desperate to avoid further damage, Georgie and Pumpkin Pie flee the scene. Flower considers it just like the nursery rhyme. “When all the boys came to play, Georgie Porgie ran away.”
Later that day, a ceremony is held to celebrate the achievements of the SPYS and Ms. Stuffings. Each woman is given a medal of honor for saving their city and all are declared heroes. Afterwards, a montage plays detailing the events after the ceremony. Ms. Stuffings managed to get all her things back and opted to stay in New Haven City for the time being, offering to help out with the SPYS for the time being. As the narrator wraps things up, she says that there’s only one thing left to do…
DANCE PARTY!
During Credits: Each character gets a chance to show off some of their best moves, except for Georgie and Pumpkin Pie who are huddled together in a jail cell, watching a group of cell mates glare at them.
After Credits: In a rural town far far away from New Haven City, a news broadcast of the SPYS and their conquest plays inside a small house where a little girl robotically pets a lamb on the head. After a few seconds of focusing on the lamb, she lets out a small ‘baa’ to end the movie.
