Reaction: This film had a very high budget for its genre(s) due to its expensive cast/starring trio. We had still hoped the film may manage to break out, but even being one of the highest grossing Drama/Horror films couldn't make up for the film's price tag.
"While I saw the finale twist several miles ahead of time, The Passenger still manages to keep up the suspense even if it loses the element of surprise frequently. Olsen didn't feel quite right for her role, but Pattinson was able to play into a lot of his strengths as a performer in the lead role." - Cooper Wilson, The Earl Hays Press
"Although I had reservations about the storyline following a predictable path, I appreciated the effort put forth by Ari Aster to enhance the script using his signature style. The committed performance by Pattinson also helped elevate the movie. Initially, I found the setup with Olsen to be quite intriguing and expected a more unconventional conclusion." - Sara Meyers, Times (UK)
“As the story continued to unfold I found myself uninterested, through no fault of anyone in front or behind the camera, however as soon as that twist happens I was in. Without said twist, this could be another forgetful film, but Buck, Aster and company deliver something I will remember for a long time. Pattinson once more delivers a fantastic performance, however I have to say it is Olsen playing against type that is the standout here. Aster’s best film since Blind Faith.” - Chad. J. Johnson, DailyMovieNews.com
Rated R for violence, language and thematic material
