The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 30 Round 10)

Season 30 ended on a high note with great box office and some good films. Here's The Roundup....

3. Profits
For the first time since Season 20, the studio has earned $2 billion or more in profits. It was a feat that had only been accomplished five times in the previous 29 seasons. This season's profits also ended up being more than double what the studio earned last season.

2. American Gigolo
While American Gigolo didn't re-invent its source material, it was still a well-done remake featuring a great cast, soundtrack and direction.

1. Justice League Invasion
I would say that Invasion did not have the best storyline of the three Justice League films, but it does feature the best action of the bunch. And it is an action film after all. The box office isn't surprising since this film is the first time we have gotten to combine the studio's biggest DC Comics Universe stars like Tom Cruise's Green Lantern, Jake Gyllenhaal's Batman, and more, all in one film.

3. N/A

2. Dating Vanessa
Dating Vanessa isn't a bad film, but it didn't properly utilize its strong premise to its full potential and it delivered an ending that made little sense and rendered the 90 minutes of screen time prior pointless. As for the box office, clearly it was hampered by its large budget (for the genre) to the point that there was little hope unless it were to become a monster hit.

1. Best Actress GRA Race
The Best Actress category is already one that tends to be on the weaker side, but this season may be one of the weaker lineups in recent memory.

Reaction: Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new film at the top of the studio's worldwide box office rankings!

"From the opening scene I knew we were in for an entertaining film. The pairings of heroes is what did this for me as each one was picked with perfection. Each hero (and villain) gets to shine in ways I thought impossible for a Justice League movie, with no one really taking a major backwards step. While not a finished product completely Justice League: Invasion just left me wanting more, and I believe that’s exactly what we will get." - J. Darrell Ellington, Behind the Camera

"While the actual intent is to set up for future movies, this super duper team up JL movie works on so many levels just entertaining wise. It's fun to see each of these interact with another and who gets teamed up with who was their excellently calculated. And although it establishes a lot of things, there are certain things left in the air that made me reserved in completely singing it's praises." - Avery Wendell, IGN

"Justice League Invasion is a visually stunning, action-packed superhero extravaganza that sets the stage for some truly epic action sequences. While the film excels in its grand-scale action sequences, dynamic visuals, and engaging performances, it falls a bit short in character development and narrative depth. The film's relentless pace simply does not always allow room for emotional beats. That said, I don't think anyone is going to see a film titled Justice League Invasion for pathos and deep feeling, they are going to see something worthy of being shown on the biggest screen possible - and on that front, this one absolutely delivers." - Cooper Wilson, The Earl Hays Press

Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence, destruction, and some language
