Reaction: The huge salaries collected by some of its talents didn't help with this one, but the studio has not had a lot of success in its few attempts at Romantic Comedy films over the years, and this one is no different (more on that in this round's Box Office Breakdown).

"Emma Stone and Zac Efron deliver standout performances that infuse the film with a delightful charm. However, it's the remainder of the narrative that fails to captivate, leaving me disengaged from the overall plot. The pacing feels tedious and sluggish, with an overly saccharine tone that comes across as excessively sweet, akin to the sensation of being struck by sugar glass." - Susanne White, Tribune News Service

"Dating Vanessa tries to bring a fresh twist to the romantic comedy genre, but only manages mixed results. Despite an intriguing concept, the execution feels disjointed and predictable. The film features a strong cast and a few touching moments, but it struggles to find its footing." - Cooper Wilson, The Earl Hays Press

"Dating Vanessa attempts to charm with its clever premise and Emma Stone's charisma, but ultimately fails to deliver a cohesive story. Emma Stone's Vanessa lacks chemistry with her potential suitors. The film's climax, where Vanessa abruptly chooses her friend Bridgette over the male contestants, feels rushed and unearned, resulting in an unsatisfactory and frustrating ending." - Dave Manning, Ridgefield Press

Rated PG-13 for language, some suggestive content, and brief drug use
