Reaction: This one barely brought in any money for the studio, so even with its small budget the film lost a good amount of money for the studio.

"Love Is Embarrassing is a tedious watch, dragging with repetitive scenes of Andrew smoking weed and playing video games. His obsession with his college crush feels more irritating and creepy than relatable. The script from Alex Conn feels like it has taken every aspect that didn't work from previous films on his resume, and for some inexplicable reason has decided to throw them haphazardly into one film." - Dave Manning, Ridgefield Press

"Love is Embarrassing and this repeated story from Alex Conn is too. It’s been long touted that Alex performs better when he steers away from drugs, college and dramedies. Even if it weren’t Alex writing this film it is just not a well written film. To often do we focus on the characters on their phones or asking people to hang out. My suggestion for Alex will be to take a break from these type of characters and focus on more adult oriented stories or just simply change genres completely." - Robert Clapton, The New York Times

"Despite being filled with more pot smoke than a concert featuring Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, and Wiz Khalifa combined, Love Is Embarrassing is too easily distracted to achieve anything significant. Like its stoned protagonist, the film constantly misses the mark. The story of "pining after someone who probably doesn't feel the same" has potential, but the characters, especially the main one, are so underdeveloped that it's hard to care about them. The film feels half-written and seems more interested in self-satisfaction than in telling a relatable human story." - Camry Jane-Michaels, San Jose Mercury News

Rated R for drug use and language throughout
