Reaction: Dishonest is a huge missed opportunity, but it just goes to show that "Espionage" is probably a genre best left to mid-to-low budget films, and not films made on a blockbuster scale (which the world of the film required). The film performed very well on home video, which saved this from being even more of a financial disappointment. Seeing as the film cost well over $150 million to produce and market and grossed less than $100 million, the loss it sustained could have been much, MUCH worse.
"Director Ryan Coogler and writer Jack Ryder have developed a very rich, detailed dystopian world for the characters to play in." - Justin Rodriguez, Detroit Free Press
"Dishonest is a case where the world in the background is far more interesting than the story being told and the characters involved. Clearly a lot of care has gone into the setting, I just wish I could say the same thing about the characters." - George Ryan, Philadelphia Inquirer
"Dishonest is a bit of a mixed bag, just like the talent levels of the cast. While Michael B. Jordan and Alicia Vikander are solid, Fan Bingbing really struggles with her role. Overall it's worth the watch though." - Jeff Stockton, Deseret News
