Plot: Brad Sawyer (Taylor Kitsch) gets beaten up in an alley way by Sal (Michael Madsen) and his men over a $25,000 gambling debt Brad owes. They leave him beaten and bloody in the alley, with Sal telling him that he has 24 hours to pay up or they will kill him.

On his way home, Brad robs a mini mart, collecting a couple hundred dollars. When he gets home, his girlfriend Molly (Elizabeth Olsen) is shocked by how badly he is beaten. Brad tells her about the gambling debt, but doesn't tell her about the ultimatum. She asks how much money he has, and he tells her a few hundred dollars. She tells him that he can have the $1000 she has saved up.

They take a bus to Atlantic City with the hopes that Brad can win enough money at the casinos to pay off Sal. When they get to the casino, they discover that Sal has followed them. He threatens Brad again, leading Molly to learn of the deadline.

Brad sits down at a poker table and begins playing. While Brad plays, Molly pickpockets gamblers throughout the casino, adding to Brad's gambling fund. Brad is on a winning streak at the tables, with his winnings up to $8000.

Molly tries picking the pockets of a man playing blackjack Slim (David Harbour), who realizes she took his wallet and follows her. Molly goes into a stairwell to count the money she has stolen. Slim follows her and confronts her. Slim beats and attempts to rape Molly when suddenly he is shot by Brad. Molly and Brad take Slim's room key and head up to his room to look for valuables. Inside his suitcase they find a half kilo of cocaine.

Brad tells Molly that he knows someone with ties to the mob in Atlantic City and suggests they take the cocaine to him in order to sell it, which would give them enough money to pay off Sal. Brad and Molly go to see his contact, Nicky (Vincent Piazza). Nicky offers to give them half the value of the cocaine upfront, $7000. Brad accepts and gives Nicky the drugs.

Brad and Molly count up their money. They are just over $13,000 now. With time running out they go to the roulette table and bet it all on red. The ball lands on black 17. Brad and Molly steal a car from the parking lot and drive south away from the city.
