Reaction: The numbers are far less than we at the studio were expecting on a big Hollywood biopic like this - with a big name subject and director. The soundtrack also sold surprisingly poorly - all the fans must already have the songs and didn't feel the need to buy the soundtrack.

"The cast is too baby-faced for much of the film. Radcliffe and Styles are underwhelming as John and Paul, but Robert and Whitehead come off better as Ringo and George. With all the information out there about The Beatles, this film really didn't provide the audience with anything new." - Charles Triano, Los Angeles Times

"While the film struggles at times to rise above the 'greatest hits' style of biography, the film succeeds due to Ron Howard's direction. He has always excelled at true story films, and this is no different." - Mike Stotts, Portland Tribune

"It's hard to not get swept up in the story, even though there are very few surprises. The quality of the production is top-notch, and director Ron Howard does a workmanlike job recreating many famed moments of Beatles lore." - Rick Green, New Yorker
