Shōgun: The international ensemble of Darren Aronofsky's Shōgun adaptation continues to grow with the additions of Brian Tee (Paradise Lost, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, James Saito (Too Big to Fail, "Cloak and Dagger") and Vincent Perez (The Apocalypse Code, Queen of the Damned). Tee and Saito will play Japanese noblemen, while Perez will play a Portugese Jesuit priest. Dwight Gallo wrote the script based on the novel by James Clavell.
Swim Through the Darkness: Writer Chad Taylor (The Beatles, Sinkhole) will tackle a much different music biopic than The Beatles with his next film, Swim Through the Darkness, based on the troubled life of musician Craig Smith aka Maitreya Kali. John Gallagher Jr. (The Belko Experiment, 10 Cloverfield Lane) has been cast in the lead role, his biggest film role to date. He will be joined by Patricia Clarkson (The Maze Runner, Easy A) and Melissa Benoist (Without Remorse, "Supergirl"). Clarkson will play Craig Smith's mother, while Benoist will play his love interest. Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave, Shame) will direct the film.
Death Dream: The upcoming thriller from director David Robert Mitchell and writer John Malone has added David Morse ("Outsiders", Concussion), Norbert Leo Butz ("Bloodline", Better Living Through Chemistry) and Ellie Bamber (Nocturnal Animals, Roanoke) to its cast. The cast is led by Alden Ehrenreich as a soldier returning home from Afghanistan. Morse will play his family's neighbor and fellow war vet, Butz will play the town sheriff and Bamber will play Ehrenreich's girlfriend.
The Banded Ants 2 - The Mortal Enemy: The voice cast is done being assembled for the highly anticipated sequel to The Banded Ants. Andy Serkis (Peter and the Starcatchers, Hiroshima), Ian McShane (The Creature, Purgatorio) and Jack Ryder regular Brandon Routh (Dishonest, Share) will all voice characters in the upcoming film directed by Guillermo del Toro and written by Jack Ryder.
Dead Space: Last Resort Films will go back to the well with another video game adaptation, this time an adaptation of Dead Space, from writer Ben Collins (Siren, The Creature) and director David Ayer (Suicide Squad, Zombieworld). Colin Farrell (Beguiled, The Killing of a Sacred Deer) will star in the story of an engineer and his crew stranded on a large, abandoned mining spaceship. Kate Mara (Purgatorio, Chappaquiddick) and Jane Levy (Steins Gate, The Informers) will join him in the film. Mara will play Farrell's girlfriend, while Levy will play a member of Farrell's crew.
Shake Hands with the Devil: The suddenly highly demanded director Bennett Miller (Foxcatcher, Moneyball) will make his debut for the studio on Shake Hands with the Devil, based on the life of Canadian UN Colonel Romeo Dallaire, who led UN peacekeeping mission in Rwanda. Liam Neeson (The Beatles, The Prisoner) will star in the film as Dallaire. Forest Whitaker (Black Panther, Dishonest) and Stephen Lang (Hostiles, Don't Breathe) have also signed on for supporting roles in the film. Dominic Wilkins wrote the script.
