The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 15 Round 5)

We're now at the halfway point of Season 15 of Last Resort Films.... Here's The Roundup....

3. A Reputation
The film was very well-plotted and I really enjoyed MOST of the cast. While I couldn't really connect with Larson's main plotline (more on that below), I really liked Brendan Fraser's story line and found him to be a likable presence.

2. Ryan Gosling

It's been a while since Gosling has worked for the studio, so it was pleasant to see him back on the big screen.
Obviously he has earned the right to picky, which is why I imagine he doesn't show up a lot - but when he does get cast in a film for LRF, it tends to be a good one.
1. Tom Cruise

It was nice to see Tom Cruise outside of action star mode for once. He gave a solid performance and once again asserted his box office dominance.

3. The Killings
I liked The Killings, but I think it should have been  much better than it ended up being. I was expecting a Best Picture contender, but at this point I'm not so sure. It started off really strong, but it slowly lost its luster for me.

2. Box Office

Profits were low this round, especially for the films not starring Tom Cruise. We're now at the half way point on the season and while the profit numbers are looking much better than last season, they still are on the low end for the studio.

1. Brie Larson

Easily my least favorite LRF role for Larson (outside of maybe Uncharted 3 where she was just not given much to do other than cash a giant check). The way she tackled the role made the character more difficult to root for than it should have been. Granted, some of that may be my own personal bias developed based on her attitude in the real world.
