Chris (Joel Kinnaman) goes down to wait for his driver to take him to work. Shortly after Rick arrives (Rupert Grint), which replaces the usual driver that day is sick. Rick is visibly awkward and is immediately scolded by Chris because he did not open the door. As long as I am a car, you notice one traffic higher than usual and you hear on the radio that during the night various groups of thugs have created problems during the night.Chris scolds Rick saying that to turn off the radio because he has to study some working documents and to do soon because he has a meeting with a important customer.While Rick tries to make conversation unsuccessful, Chris receives a call from Samantha (Priyanka Chopra), a colleague, who tells him that the client has arrived. After a while they arrive in the building and Chris enters without saying goodbye to the driver. As soon as he gets in he meets a young apprentice, Silver (Camila Mendes) who brings him coffee and appears ruddy.Chris tells her to tell Samantha to arrange an appointment with him in the afternoon because he appreciated his way of doing. Then he tells him that he does not want sugar in coffee. At this point Chris gets in the elevator with Julia (Jes Macallan).From their conversation you understand that the two have had a half story and try to kiss her. At first she pretends to kiss him and then knees him on the stomach saying that he tries with all the women. He looks at her with admiration when he leaves 'elevator.Chris continues its journey in the elevator alone. She receives Jessica's phone call and in the meantime the elevator stops because of a breakdown. He treats her badly because she tells him to go and get the milk when she comes home.Chris calls a technician to fix the elevator, says there's a problem in the generator that is in the roof.

Shortly after receiving the call from Samantha, the customer is impatient and does not know how long it will be able to hold it.Chris can hear the technician in the roof. At a certain point they hear disturbing complaints and the technician starts screaming. Time begins to pass and Chris begins to lose patience and manages to create a small crack in the elevator doors from which he can at last look out. The silence outside the elevator is total, disturbing. Chris starts asking for help but does not answer anyone. At a certain point he receives a phone call from his wife, he tells her that people seem to be crazed, there is a terrorist attack.Chris tries to minimize what is happening and asks her to stay calm and to lock herself in the house. Suddenly Chris sees people running, including Julia, who slides near the elevator slot. The woman's face is terrified and she screams to Chris to save her.Chris tries to hold her hand but escapes and the woman is taken by something.Chris begins to get scared and as soon as he gets close to the slot some zombies try to bite him, before being attracted by noises and go away.Chris tries to call his wife , which does not answer and then also to Samantha with the same result.

Immediately after, while approaching the slot, the phone rings, it is Samantha, but at the same time undergoes the attack of Julia, now turned into zombies and Chris uses his umbrella to defend himself being able to stab and kill it.The blood begins to flood the elevator and after a bit 'the smell begins to be nauseating. At one point the young Silver, terrified and dirty with blood passes near the elevator and try together to open the elevator. Because of a noise caused by Chris the zombies are lured and Silver escapes. Kills a zombie with a fire extinguisher but then comes surprised behind other zombies and gets devoured.Chris begins to cry and try to call his wife, who this time responds but starts to cry out for help because the zombies are breaking through the door and the line falls immediately.The time passes and Chris is exhausted. At one point Samantha succeeds to reach the floor where he is Chris, tries to take refuge in an office but can not close the door.Chris tried in vain to save her trying to make noise to attract the zombies to him.Chris in tears begins to use the phone and he starts watching videos on youtube that show several zombie attacks in the streets of Chicago. At one point a policeman arrives, Breck (Matt Bomer) who kills the zombies and delivers a gun and a walkie-talkie to Chris.Breck in fact tries to open the doors but can not, must go to the roof to reset the generator. With some effort Chris teaches the way to get to the roof. Shortly after he arrives on the roof Chris hears through the walkie-talkie that Breck is surrounded by monsters and hears the shots, screams and moans.After a moment of discouragement begins to shoot the zombies who had gathered in front of the 'elevator.Then Chris thinks those were friendly people.

In the gun, meanwhile, there are only two bullets left and he starts to look at the pictures of his wife Jessica on the phone. There is a moment when Chris points the gun to his temple. Suddenly he hears noises above the elevator, Breck. Chris manages to force the trapdoor and Breck manages to get in.Breck is wounded and limping, in fact he was bitten to the leg. The two men start talking about their wives remembering happy moments, despite Chris says that he was not a good husband.Breck says that his wife was taken to a kind of underground shelter. After a while Breck begins to cough and spits blood as well. Then he promises to Chris that when he falls asleep he will have to shoot two shots in the back of his head. Chris is scared and struggling to react. Then the camera shows Breck's infected wound, he begins to lose a greenish liquid. Suddenly Breck turns into a zombie and begins a 'elevator.Partono two shots, one wounds to the Chris leg, the other hits the head Breck.Chris tightens the tie to the leg to stop the bleeding.Chris then seems to lose consciousness for a few minutes until the phone rings, unfortunately it was only the alarm of the alarm. Soon after, the phone rings again, it's an unknown number, it's Jessica, she says the soldiers managed to save her and she was taken to a safe place.Then the call ends suddenly.This phone call is a push for Chris, he sees that the elevator door is locked due to a hook and manages to break it using the rifle that had Breck.Chris finally comes out of the elevator passing over the dead zombies. Can find a bottle of water,break the head of a zombie without legs and exit the building to look for the safe place where the wife was transported.
