The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 26 Round 7)

Round 7 was a rough one at the box office, that's for sure. Here's The Roundup....

3. Award Races
With just a few rounds left, things are starting to solidify in the GRA races. Obviously Caesar Part III is going to be a heavy favorite in a lot of categories, but I think films from this round like Among Us and Paki have good chances in categories like Best Ensemble Cast and Best Starring Couple, respectively.

2. Among Us
I had never even heard of the video game before this film was announced. I have no idea how well Sammy-Jo Ellis' film actually adapts the game, but I do know that she managed to create a solid sci-fi horror/thriller project out of it.

1. Paki
Jimmy Ellis and John Malone created some pretty colorful characters in Paki and everyone had solid chemistry together. It's a bummer the film lost money, but at least it was a good movie.

3. N/A

2. Footage from the Past
I've watched it a couple of times now, but I would still have a hard time explaining exactly what Footage from the Past is really about. That's not a good thing for a horror film - a genre almost entirely based around the hook of a film. I dare you to name a good (and successful) horror film without an easy to explain hook/premise.

1. Box Office
All three films lost money this round, combining for over $60 million in losses. It also makes four flops in a row for the studio, although I have to imagine things will rebound a bit next round with Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer due out next.
