"I love the premise of The Day. While there are elements of the film that waste the premise, whenever we are with Joel Kinnaman in the elevator, the film is a tense zombie thriller. The supporting characters aren't really developed, but Kinnaman makes Chris interesting throughout." - Paul Landon, Film School Rejects
"The concept is appealing, and Gomez-Rejon's efforts are praiseworthy, but the screenplay falls short in terms of creating a thrilling experience. It lacks the necessary components to classify as a zombie movie. Joel Kinnaman's acting ability is insufficient to hold the attention of viewers in a single location setting. In fact, the viewer may feel more compelled to join the zombies than remain in the same room as him for another minute." - Tullia Seward, Slate

"The Day works for the most part as an isolated zombie outbreak horror film. I liked that it didn't dive into too much backstory and kept things simple. Joel Kinnaman does well in the lead role here, managing to play off each of the handful of supporting characters he encounters with ease and without anything becoming too repetitive."  - Albert Perry, Orange County Register

Rated R for horror violence, gore and language
