Reaction: Zoe's Vegas was unable to find the same surprise success that its predecessor Zoe Maye did back in Season 13. It doesn't have the same caliber of supporting players as the first film, such as Sharon Stone, Nicolas Cage and John Cena, which could have hurt the marketability of this sequel a bit.
"Selena Gomez is someone I always hope good will towards, but this character doesn't enhance that feeling. The soundtrack and scope is great for this movie. Too bad that the script is too self-indulgent redeem anything from the previous movie. It all felt unnecessary around the end to be honest." - Reggie Dunn, Sacramento Bee
"The writing and direction of this sequel are much tighter than in Zoe Maye's first big-screen adventure in Season 13. The tonal balance was improved and there was less dead space in the story. Selena Gomez's Zoe is still a fairly grating character to me and I missed some of the more colorful characters that the first film had but this one lacked. All in all, I'd say Zoe's Vegas is a slight improvement (even with its issues) over the first film thanks to its technical improvements." - Cooper Wilson, The Earl Hays Press
"Both Zoe Maye and Zoe's Vegas feature a cast of unlikable characters, but at they were more fun in the first film thanks to over-the-top performances from John Cena and Nicolas Cage. That sense of fun was missed in this sequel, which is a shame because the writing and directing are both better in this one. I also found Selena Gomez slightly less annoying this time around." - Cal Crowe, Washington Globe
Rated R for language, sexual content/nudity and thematic material
