Reaction: The Lights' minor profit manages to end writer Sammy-Jo Ellis' box office cold streak after three flops in a row, so she's surely letting out a sigh of relief.

"The Lights definitely is an interesting movie supported by a good lead performance by one of LRF's greats Alden Ehrenreich. Sammy-Jo Ellis and Bong Joon-ho deliver a well written and directed story, but I couldn't really get behind the supernatural things and felt like it could have used a bit more background to that." - Clark Chase, Chicago Sun-Times

"I haven't seen a sci-fi movie as unique in its vision as The Void until now. Sammy-Jo Ellis should be proud to share this honor with her brother. Director Bong Joon-ho has become my top choice for Best Director, thanks to his signature style of seamlessly changing the film's genre as needed. The supporting cast helps elevate Ehrenreich to the highest level of performance, showcasing his best actor potential and carrying the film effortlessly." - Alice Bunson,  The Atlantic

"Alden Ehrenreich has had a lot of great roles in his LRF career, and his role as Erik in The Lights may be his best in several seasons. His performance though is matched by Bill Skarsgard's appearance. The actual plot may not hold up greatly under much scrutiny, but The Lights isn't so much about plot as it is about its themes, its visuals and the emotional journey of its characters." - Cal Crowe, Washington Globe

Rated PG-13 for some violence, language and thematic elements
