Resume: James McAvoy

James McAvoy began his LRF career with a bang - quite literally - with his acclaimed early performances, but now it has been quite some time since his last LRF appearance. With McAvoy set to return to work for LRF with a starring role in Alex Conn's latest - The Actors - we will take a look at his filmography....

Season 2
101
Director: Denis Villeneuve
Writer: Mo Buck

Budget: $66,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $51,703,072
Foreign Box Office: $51,415,093
Total Profit: -$951,992

In his LRF debut, James McAvoy gave a GRA-nominated performance is the villain in 101. He plays a violent man who attacks a school. The film just missed out on profits, losing less than $1 million at the end of the day despite decent reviews.

Season 4
The Price of Fame
Director: Mark Romanek
Writer: Ann Morrow

Budget: $44,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $54,570,099
Foreign Box Office: $61,083,036
Total Profit: $18,909,935

McAvoy was back a couple seasons later as the lead in The Price of Fame where he played a man who develops a dangerous obsession with his famous L.A. neighbors. He was nominated for Best Actor for his performance, while the film itself won four GRA trophies including Best Picture. This one also fared better at the box office than 101, earning a solid profit.

Season 10
Ubik
Director: Alex Garland
Writer: Rosie JoLove

Budget: $30,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $16,001,457
Foreign Box Office: $18,861,093
Total Profit: -$29,000,452

James McAvoy took a handful of seasons off from LRF before returning in Season 10 with two projects. The first of which was this adaptation of Philip K. Dick's difficult novel. The film was both a critical and financial flop.

Stray Dogs
Director: Robert Rodriguez
Writer: Ben Collins

Budget: $29,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $33,459,222
Foreign Box Office: $12,904,127
Total Profit: -$18,890,441

Later in Season 10, McAvoy headlined the violent western Stray Dogs. While critics liked this one much better than Ubik, it too struggled to find an audience and similarly flopped at the box office.

Season 12
Mass Effect: First Contact
Director: Alex Garland
Writer: Seth Overton

Budget: $174,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $182,999,477
Foreign Box Office: $256,551,435
Total Profit: $65,018,383

Just one season later, McAvoy was back in the lead role in a prequel to the massively successful Mass Effect film franchise. Like the other films that came before it, this Mass Effect film was a big hit - even if it is the lowest grossing entry in the franchise.

Up Next:
James McAvoy has not yet lined up any future projects after The Actors.
