Round 3 wasn't outstanding, but two of the three films made a profit. Here's The Roundup....
3. Box Office
While the numbers weren't stellar this round, it does at least continue the trend of 2/3 films this season making a profit. That's not a fantastic ratio, but it is pretty good if it manages to continue.
2. Andrew Garfield
I didn't love The Incredible Shrinking Man (more on than below), but Andrew Garfield once again proved he is one of the best actors of his generation with another great performance (way better than the film he gave it in).
1. Red Wolf 2
This sequel had some story issues, but I liked how it continued the story of Red Wolf and continued to keep the franchise and the character in a grounded corner of the Marvel Universe.
3. Red Wolf 2
Some discussion has been had of the lower critical scores for this film, so I figured I'd give my two cents. The first film worked so well because the stakes were so personal for the hero and the plotting was much tighter. One of the other critics compared the film to the old TV series Kung Fu where David Carradine's Caine wanders from town to town stopping crime and injustices. This really is the perfect analogy. It wasn't a terrible idea really, it just paled when compared to how the first story worked.
2. Watch Dogs
Not a terrible movie by any means, but as a fan of the game I was a little disappointed that writer Joshua Collins and director Neill Blomkamp decided to turn the film into a generic action film.
1. The Incredible Shrinking Man
The story here was way too slow and old-fashioned for a modern film, in my opinion. I also think that it didn't push its premise nearly far enough given the technological abilities of filmmaking today.
