Reaction: While the profit was slightly lower due to the increased budget, this Red Wolf sequel did manage to gross more in every box office category.

"Kristen Bell and Jeremy Strong were not quite able to fill in Billy Bob Thornton's shoes as a formidable villain for Red Wolf in this sequel. That said, I enjoyed the journey Talltrees went on in this story with the highlights being the fiery finale and the mountaintop sequence with Moonstar and the bear. I didn't love this one as much as the first, but it was still a solid entry that felt more unique than the majority of comic book fare being churned out by every major studio." - Glenn Howard, Total Film

"Though this follow-up doesn't reach the heights of its predecessor, Tanka Means continues to develop his role as William Talltrees impressively. However, the narrative feels disjointed, as the actual storyline doesn't kick in until midway through the movie. The action sequences are stunning, yet they fall short of compensating for the initial pacing issues." - Chet Buckley,  MovieWeb

"This sequel just didn't hit the same as the first film. The stakes, urgency, relationships and emotion all paled in comparison to the fantastic first Red Wolf film. I think taking Red Wolf away from the reservation and making him a Caine-type figure (of 'Kung Fu' fame, of course) hurt the film, although it did lead to the great Moonstar sequence (I hope to see more of her in the Marvel Universe)." - Cooper Wilson, The Earl Hays Press

Rated PG-13 for violence
