GOSSIP RAG (SEASON 28)

In this segment, we will delve into the inside dirt on some of the latest and upcoming LRF releases and the studio's stars....

Guy Ritchie
Guy Ritchie is reportedly done with the Task Force X series for LRF after directing three entries. He has referred to the films as time-consuming, but reportedly enjoyed his time on the DC Universe productions. According to sources close to the director, he always intended on stepping down after three films - if the series made it that far. With the third film another hit, the studio and writer Jimmy Ellis will be tasked (pun intended) with finding a new director. There are hopes within the studio that Ritchie will either change his mind or at least stay on as a producer (and sounding board for a new director) to help the franchise continue into the future.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Aaron Taylor-Jones was reportedly the last of the main stars in The Hunchback of Notre Dame to be cast due to the filmmakers' difficulty in finding the right man for the role of Captain Phoebus. However, Taylor-Johnson's acting style quickly began to clash with the film's original director, Chris Weitz. After one argument too many in just the first week of shooting, Weitz quit the production, leaving it in desperate need of a director that could take on the project with short notice. Taylor-Johnson's wife, filmmaker Sam Taylor-Johnson, happened to staying with her husband for the shoot in Prague. LRF President Phil Dolan himself and writer Walter McKnight paid her a visit and convinced her to take on the job of director on the project to salvage the production.

Jay Ellis
The filmmakers behind Nick Fury and His Howling Commandos reportedly had a very difficult time casting the title role. Director Roland Emmerich felt that the production was kind of handicapped by the casting of Denzel Washington as the character in The Invincible Iron Man - saying that it was difficult to not only find a young black actor who would be believable as a younger version of Washington's character but also manage to carry a big film. Multiple other actors were heavily attached to the role with Rege-Jean Page and Kelvin Harrison Jr. both reportedly had contract discussions with the studio before Jay Ellis blew the filmmakers away with his screen-test and secured the role at the last minute.

Tom Hardy
After being sent the script to the upcoming pirate film Thorne, Tom Hardy knew he wanted to star in the film. He also made it clear to the studio that he knew who he wanted to direct the film - Jennifer Kent. The star has reportedly become a fan of the director after being blown away by her work on Blood Countess and The Nightingale. Coming off success of Judas Iscariot, Hardy finally had enough clout to convince the studio and writer Jimmy Ellis that Kent was the right director to bring the story to life.

Maya Hawke
Maya Hawke is being courted to star in an upcoming dramedy later this season. It was originally set to be the next directorial effort from its co-writer, H.G. Hansen, but Hawke has reportedly nixed that idea. According to sources close to the situation, the film will feature a good amount of sexual content, and Hawke made it clear that she would feel more comfortable with a more feminine vision behind the camera. The studio and producers are now scouring Hollywood for a female director to meet Hawke's approval. To his credit, Hansen has reportedly taken the situation well and agreed to willingly step down from the directorial position after Hawke's demand.

BONUS:
Superman: Exile
Rumors have begun swirling that the upcoming third Superman film, Superman: Exile, will feature a secret opening prologue sequence that nobody outside of director Jeff Nichols, writer John Malone and LRF president Phil Dolan have knowledge of. The scene was reportedly cut down when it was sent out to critics to avoid any spoilers leaking out before the film is released. The sequence reportedly reveals the reason for the destruction of the planet Krypton and ties directly into the plans for the third Justice League team-up film.
